  1. I have an AK based .223 (Galil, not Saiga), and find it to be extremely accurate. Mine has an 16" barrel, and from the shoulder with iron sights I get extremely tight groups 1.5" in the 30 yard range. I've never shot the gun from a bench rest because I bought it for self defense, and the speed at which I can put a round on target is of primary importance to me. That being said, I was at the range with a Marine sharpshooter buddy who had no problem hitting the gong at 100 yards from the bench with a standard AK and iron sights. Assuming the predators you are going after are probably co
  2. I own a couple of Glocks, shoot them frequently, and don't see a need to plug the holes unless you need a handy place to keep extra AAA batteries or store your chewing gum. WS
  3. It's a straightforward process. Contact ATF to obtain the correct forms. Fill out the forms as specified, follow all of the instructions, pay the fee, ATF sends an investigator to interview you, to inspects your facility, and to help you get set up with paperwork. The ATF employee assigned to your application is usually available at your regional office to answer questions, and help with any areas you are uncertain about. I found ATF to be very helpful during my application process. Good luck with yours. WS
  4. Ive seen alot of different set ups. Weld on H&K sites, bolt on front sites, rail mounted optics. Personally, I take a less is more approach. Some folks like to hang everything but a ceiling fan from their guns. You don't NEED a set of 300 yd sights on your 8" short barreled Russian shotty, but if you like the way it looks - go for it. WS
  5. I find the factory iron sights sufficient. I think your money would be better spent on a good tactical light arrangement. The beauty of a scattergun is that you can aim and shoot, or point and shoot. And, the beauty of the S12 is that you can put so much lead downrange so fast either is a viable option. My factory sights are good enough to shoot trap with a high rate of success. If you need sights that are faster - just point in the right direction and pull that trigger as fast as you can! Good luck! WS
  6. First one has to remove the gas block, or move the gas block down the barrel a bit - then the gas tube comes right off. This has been covered in depth in the technical section of the forum. Suggest you search there for subjects relating to gas block removal. WS
  7. This could be a possibility: know your own laws. from the collective opinion of all the gun shop owner I've asked they told me the 10 rounders weren't kosher in MA. time do to a little more research. Any possibility you would consider moving to a free state? If my own state decided to deprive me of constitutional rights, I would strongly consider depriving them of my tax revenues by moving to a state which respects my rights under the constitution. What good is the right to keep and bear arms unless you have the right to load enough ammo in your weapon to effectively exe

  9. Try Automatsinaction.com . Tantal sometimes has spare parts. WS
  10. Wife says "Can she have your dog too?". I told her it's not likely, but she said its worth a try;) WS
  11. I'll take it! PM me your info, and I'll arrange to get a UPS label to you next week! Thanks!!! WS
  12. I am in the second category. Still not too comfortable when the materials one works with suddenly triple in cost becoming largely unfordable to most consumers. You hit the nail on the head with China. Because retail "jewelers" completely ignore federally mandated marking requirements - most people never suspect that that special piece they just bought for a loved one, came from a toxic sweatshop somewhere in the far east. The next time you are browsing for a gift, ask the clerk what country the piece you are looking at was made in. Chances are, you will either get the deer in the head
  13. To me it looks as if the twisting action absorbs energy that would otherwise be directed to moving the piston directly rearward. It stands to reason that this configuration would be less efficient in terms of energy use and dispersal, rather than more efficient. Are you able to measure how much of the energy is diverted from moving the piston rearward into lateral torque? WS
  14. I haven't ever seen one cut rebar, but I have observed 2 x 4's and 4 x 4's rendered into splinters in a matter of seconds. Actually had a friend use an S12 I built for him take out a hard to reach roof beam during a demolition project. Rebar? With the right loads and enough persistence, why not?..... WS
  15. I withheld comment until I better understood you position. It's clear you are are a patriot and a true servant of our constitutional democracy. Thank you for your service, and your comments. WS
  16. A hacksaw, and a bit of sandpaper will take off that extra length on the Fobus holster. Worked great for my Glock 26;) WS
  17. Hmmm.... Sounds like the pin was quench hardened, and was not tempered. Someone in production skipped a step or two, and with the number of firing pins breaking, it sounds like it may have taken a while before QC caught it. Another good reason to have one or two extra around. It would REALLY suck to be in a situation where you needed that S12, and it was sidelined due to a broken firing pin. If it's as well engineered as the Tromix trigger guard, the $20 price tag is well worth it. WS
  18. It sounds like you noticed no difference from all the way screwed in, to 1 rotation unscrewed. If that is correct just screw it all the way in and back it off to the desired position. The rule of thumb is to start off at the lowest number and find the setting that works for the ammo you are shooting. #8 is very light stuff so between running 7-1/2, greasing some components, and getting the springs worked in you'll likely get it running very well in short time. Just get 2 bulk packs and find a stump or something to try and whittle down. If you find your S12 continues to FTE afte
