  1. Anyone have a trick/way they've done it to get a really tight upper hand guard off of a gas tube. With the gas tube locked into the rifle I can turn it until it hits the barrel, but after that I have to remove the gas tube and I can't get it to turn any further. They're a real nice plum colored polymer set that came on my new AK54R (write up about that will coming once I get it out) so I'd rather not damage them. The plan is to swap the plum out with black and put the plum on a 74 build (with plum mags) I'm envisioning. Would swapping out the gas tubes be a last resort idea? Couple of strap wr

  3. If you have anymore of the 2 rounders I'll take it plus 2 standard 5rd mags. Eric
  4. Thanks for the help gents. Funny you talk about the anti-can't buffer...I had a 6.5 oz one and a wolff xp spring on the way before intook these out for the first time. My plan now is to try the heavier buffer, thinking the longer lock time will cause better recoil impulse, and if that doesn't work ten to try a sligtly larger hole in the bbl. He hole in the gas block is roughly 1/3 larger than the hole in the bbl, so I have room to play with. Thanks for all the help gents, funny that I get a faster response for an AR issue on a Russian shotgun forum than on AR15.com...though a co
  5. This is up on ar15.com as well, but it's not getting much of a response and there are smart folks here as well so.... I'm throwing this out there for all who are smarter than I...and there a bunch of you. The lower: Del-Ton with standard power hammer spring, mil-spec buffer (not exactly sure on the weight, but it looks just like the one I had in the Army) and buffer spring. Magazines: 3 x each: C-Products 30rd 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 magazines with the black, seemingly not anti-tilt, followers. Ammo: 90 rounds of 7n6 surplus 5.45x39. 80 rounds of 124gn HP 7.62x39 Wolf Military C
  6. The Osprey is a nice suppressor, but we're talking about dual purpose suppressors. The Osprey is on the TOP OF THE LIST for a dedicated Pistol Suppressor, no doubt. Well, you can use it on 9mm AR's...how much of a dual purpose is needed? I know the .45 Osprey cans can and have been used for other rifle apps by SilencerCo themselves... Interesting. My understanding was that the Osprey Cans have a built in piston device. (Nielson style de-coupler). I was under the impression that using a piston type decoupler on a fixed barrel would wreck the piston device. I didn't know they cou

  8. I've never noticed a slug box say which choke setting provides the best accuracy, never really looked though. Be sure to check it out next time I get slugs though. Thanks Eric
  9. Right on. I'm good with slugs, hit 8 in plates during 3 gun, just need to go out with full power slugs and get it sighted in then. Thanks all Eric
  10. So I just moved and a friend from the area has a line on some ground to go deer hunting on this year. I figure I'll let him use my S308 (as he has used rifles in the past and he's setting the whole thing up) and I'd use my S12...but I've never hunted deer with a shotgun and slugs and don't know what choke to use. I have a polychoke which I set at Improved Modified or Modified for 3 gun and it seems to do decent for the reduced recoil slugs I shoot (so I don't have to change gunfixr settings going from birdshot to slugs on the same stage), but I'd be using full power, big boy slugs for Bamb
  11. I can not comment on their .308, but I tried a box of their 5.56 and it was all over the place in 2 rifles...3in groups at 50yds when Centruion was holding 1-2in groups at 100yds the same day in the same guns. I'd try them for pistol ammo, but I'm not going to risk it for rifle as the steel cased stuff is so cheap. If you're buying it to burn through and then reload I'd say you're good, again though, I've never shot their .308. Eric
  12. What leads you to believe it's an Apex kit with US, non-chromed bbl? I've already bought it and the lack of a chromed bbl doesn't turn me off, just curious as to why it appears that way. Thanks Eric my Bulgy barrel has an arsenal mark near the gas port and I cannot see that on the 2nd to last picture in MCASSgt post. Hope I am wrong and you got a chrome lined barrel. Also Im Glad the lack of chrome wouldn't turn you off bro... Also glad to see the OP was able to sell his rifle. Good luck to the both of you! Good to know, seems like I learn something new about the AK s

  14. i know its more money and possible wait on the saiga to become available again, but this really is the best route to go.at least with a stock saiga or arsenal you will have piece of mind right out of the box.good luck with your journey.i hope you become a proud owner of a quality 5.45 soon. Funny you should say that Buzz, I bought the bulgi 5.45 that the Ssgt was selling in WTS. Should have it in a couple weeks.
  15. All of the points you guys are bringing up concerning Century bulds being a matter of gambling with quality/customer service is what makes me lean towards just converting my own or getting one all finished by K-Var. Thanks for all of your help guys. Eric
  16. PA just got a quote for instal plus re-park/re-finish from InRange for $175. Id go with them rather than a local-unknown. I used them a year ago and was charged a little over $200 for the same process expedited. Damn, $175 isn't bad at all. The price isn't bad, but you should know his turn-around time is 3-4 months. So where else besides inrange would you send your firearms to in order to get this stock installed correctly? Thanks Eric
  17. Uses the exact same conversion pieces as the rifles. CSS sells kits with everything you'll need. Mine is also an early model which does not have the bho (04 to be exact).

I used them a year ago and was charged a little over $200 for the same process expedited. Did that include return shipping? May have to keep them in mind when it comes to put this stock on something. On a side note, mine arrived today and this thing is sexy. Since it's Warsaw length Im seriosly contemplating going the Draco sbr route and using this.
  19. No chrome-lined barrel (US made). But the gas system is chrome lined. Bolt and carrier match, trunnion does not. Came with crappy Century furniture that I promptly replaced with some Bulgarian take-offs. Zigzag brake and proper dimpled trigger guard. Armory USA receiver. I'm not really worried about the lack of a chrome-lined barrel as I clean all my guns after shooting corrosive. I have to say, it's an awesome shooter for what I put into it. I also recognize that with Century sometimes you win and sometimes, not so much. That's the only thing that scares me from the Century side
  20. Why? What do you expect me to say? At this point, I don't have much interest in 5.45's, (I'm spending my $ on 7.62x39 and 12-ga). Sure, a 5.45 would be fun to plink with, but the investment is not worth it to me atm. If I wanted to add another caliber in the near future, it'd be a larger one, (e.g. .308 or 7.62x54R), not a smaller one. No worries man, just realized that you and Bigsal seem to be all over the AK rifle scene when it comes to straight to the point info based on fact, not conjecture and "a friend of mine saw a guy who knew a guy" stories turned into internet lore.
  21. Who's Bogsal? Second cousin to Harvy the rabbit.
  22. I can't believe Bigsal and PA haven't been in here yet. (wink wink)
