Well - I finally managed to track down one... I got a beat up "sample casting", and yes, these look like they were a simple 2-piece casting. Now the question is... Does someone want to take a look at this badboy to make some more for us crazy Saiga folks? Or should I just clean it up and slap it on my gun. If a reputable shop with casting ability was interested, I'd even donate mine to be cut along the seems and re-molded, in exchange for a new one or two once production started again.

It occurred to me that when I first started looking at Saiga's I saw the main page here, and saw the prices, and immediately looked for semi-comparable rates elsewhere. Eventually I decided I really wanted one, and decided o pay extra over the price herebecause I couldn't find anything else close. But with imports starting again, I've wondering if that page shouldn't be updated. It's be great to keep the historical prices somewhere, but at the same time if the prices are way off from the market, someone may not buy because they thing they're getting screwed on a S-12. Anyone else not

I think that's pretty much the going rate. The most special thing about them is that I remember someone out there had scanned a copy of a letter from the BATF where they responded to a specific inquiry about the legality of buying the S-12C under the assault weapons ban. So even if the ban comes back, it has some powerful ammo to distinguish itself from a general ban on "assaultized" S-12s.

LOL. I'm sure most people's disappointment is from the fact that photos are typically taken at night with slow shutter speeds that blur the oxidizing metal to cause a bunch of "streaks" in the photo that look like a solid cone of flame, but would look nothing like that in real life. But it would be fun if the Saiga could cycle the rounds. Imagine the calls from the cabins across the lake if you let 9 off these off in a row!

I have a 12c and it lives in the safe, while my converted 12 goes out and plays. I think the biggest thing the 12c has going for it is that there is a letter from the BATF singling it out, and stating that it is legal for civilians to own in its stock configuration because of an importation loophole.

LOL. I know an ex-cop who always said that people who drag bodies around apparently don't realize that even a cop out on his first day can tell where someone was shot. He was talking about pistols. Somehow, I think it will be hard to duplicate the forensics of the initial shotgun blast inside your home.
