    Bolt Lock

Nalioth is right. Its GCA 68 stuff all the way. For the glocks its GCA points. For the shotgun its an attempt to be "sporting".
  2. The Hungarian stock is a good piece. I have used several on different builds. Drawbacks are that it is not a drop in stock and requires permanent receiver modifications plus it has no comb. Not really an issue for much shotgun shooters . It is compact though and shorter when folded than all but the Russian AK-74 triangle stock. Only factory side folder with a rubber pad. Its a LOT stronger than it looks. The Romanian stock as I am sure you figured out is made for 1mm wall receivers and will not fit the RPK/Saiga 12 style 1.5mm wall receiver without modifications. The East German and Poli
  3. Ive powdercoated several guns with high temp epoxy powder. No flaking or peeling. Shits damn near indestructible. This was done 3 years ago and it gets dragged around and beat up a lot. Just as there are different types of solvent paint there are different types of powder used in powder coating. Some are appropriate for firearms use and some are not. I have about 15 lbs of the good stuff that I bought from a machine tool manufacturer. Its not something that the standard powder coating guy or shop would stock or even know about.
  4. Could someone please explain how a gunfixer plug would give MORE gas with light loads than the wide open on #2 factory plug?
  5. Ya know, something always puzzled me. If you make a part in the U.S., but you make it out of foreign metal stock, is it 922r compliant? At what point does it become 922r compliant? Can you import a part from Wherethefukistan that just happens to have the same dimensions as the puck, make some lightening cuts in it and stamp it with "Made in the USA"? Why stop there... you can get a russian made AK gas piston, cut it to the right length and diameter for use as the operating rod on the Saiga-12 and stamp it with "Made in the USA". What constitutes being "made"? And another poin

    Super X slugs

I was thinking about keeping a mag in the gun with a single super X 1 oz 2 3/4" HP slug in the top spot with 3 inch remington buckshot in the rest of the mag and chamber. I suppose the top round is the one thats going to deform under the bolt and the slug will help with that. Any problem running these slugs on gas plug setting 1 and will I need to pull the choke off the gun?
  7. I use a welding torch tip cleaner. I was actually able to open up the ports several sizes with the tip cleaner.
  8. See, I wouldn't have thought that since there are so many parts that are "special" for these things, that's even better, if I ever want to "undo" this I can just buy any lever... Thanks again, sorry for being a dick, I can't really help it, since I'm a dick and all... Join the crowd
  9. BTW a standard late Saiga or late AK-74 selector will work as a replacement. Any AK safety will but the detent is farther forward on the late model guns. It would just make a different mark on the receiver if you use an earlier safety.
  10. You've got a normal bolt handle in the same position as everyone else's bolt handle. . Bull, BTW, I corrected the improper punctuation in your post... The Saiga-12 bolt handle travels further rearward than an Ak's bolt handle. Look at the pictures... Thank you soooo very much for correcting my punctuation. Such a relief. Yes. The bolt goes back farther than the notch on the normal AK safety notch as it does on an AK as well. That doesnt mean you have to pull it that far to lock it. AK's and Saiga 12 bolt carriers both travel rearward to exactly the same point. The
  11. Youve got a normal bolt handle in the same position as everyone elses bolt handle. .
  12. If your'e talking about the flip up tritium sight I might have a spare from a M70 virgin kit. The virgin m92 kits come with notched safeties. You got robbed.
  13. Huh. My M92 does not have that type of safety lever... It should. It was an M92 feature. Someone may have swapped yours out for you or they might have done it at the factory.
  14. The yugoslavians did it a long time before Dinzag did
  15. True. What the hell is going on with K-Var? I'd expect them to have everything on their site but foreign barrels but they are ALWAYS out of everything you'd want. I don't even look to them first for AK parts any more because they are perpetually out of stock.
  16. Is it realy like what they say? man I always wanted to try those It goes off like a gifuckingantic flash cube ( remember those ) . Best wait until its pitch black out and light one off. I usually point it straight up and the whole neighborhood gets lit up for 1/2 second. Takes a good 30 seconds for your eyes to get adjusted back to the dark enough to function and not run into things. No practical purpose whatsoever but still fun to play with
  17. I do the dragons breath every year at 4th of July. Wakes everyone up thats for sure. I usually pick up a box of winchester blanks and some dragons breath and some 12 gauge bird bombs if I can find them. h.
  18. Ever grabbed a barrel you just ran 100 rounds through? Shrouds are actually useful items. That vid is a classic.
  19. FWIW tubed red dot sights are very difficult to use and shoot at quick moving objects like skeet. Open collimator sights like the virtually unavailable Kobra are a better choice.
  20. I don't know why they say they are for SAW grips. If you trim the grip screw to the right length they work fine for regular AK grips.
  21. Yep. Mine did just that. The BHO was a bad idea and worse execution. Sure if you dick around with the thing you might get one to work most of the time but notching the safety does the same thing without the stress of wondering if it will hang up again.
  22. If you shoot like most American shooters then use a NATO style. If you shoot like East Block doctrine shooters shoot then use the Soviet style. It depends on how you stand when you shoot. Them Soviet and east block boys ain't exactly short.

    Receiver

Depends what you want to call the receiver. The ATF put out a goofy opinion letter a few years ago saying the trunnion is actually receiver on saiga 12 shotguns. I know. That doesnt make any sense but its the basis of the parts count for 922r purposes on the Saiga shotgun. Of course an opinion letter only applies to the guy who sent in the letter and its asinine to base an entire industry standard on one guys opinion letter but that's where we're at today.
  24. Normal AK stuff. Top covers are like women. Some are tight, some are loose. If you can pull it off by hand without depressing the spring then it will never come out on its own. If it bugs you you can bend the lip out a bit where it sits in the rear trunnion.
  25. A full choke with 3 inch #7 1/2 shells is hard to beat for bird shooting.
