  1. I bought the natural timbersmith set and used the upper and lower fore grips on my rifle, i made my own stock and pistol grip out of cherry(counts as USA parts right? haha) and wanted something i could stain the same color as the stock and pistol grip.(making the foregrip from a piece of firewood was a bit out of my skill set) The fit was a little loose on the bottom hand guard so i bought the steel spring clip that keeps it from moving and problem solved. Got everything from Carolina shooter supply they are the best. Personally i did not like the feel of the pistol grip actually the birch woo
  2. I like the non-uniform look. I want to get a few more saigas and I want one of them to be the ugliest most mis-matched pos. If I ever do it ill definitely post pictures here. I will start a thread asking for suggestions on how to make the ugliest saiga.
  3. the front end of this is the unfinished birch.. red mahogany stain
  4. First time posting a pic of my lil ugly bastard. Surefire 15 round NJ legal sks sling G2 trigger tapco piston timbersmith unfinished birch foregrips home made grip and stock I made the stock from a hunk of cherry to take the SGM tactical recoil pad off the factory saiga stock. I made the grip from a block of cherry to fit my hand. The finish is from a jar of minwax dark red mahogany with a couple coats of clear coat. the birch handguards match the cherry grip and stock pretty well imho. lemme hear some feed back.

  6. Just ordered the unfinished Timber-smith set from CSS. I will not be using the stock that comes with the set however because I made my own. The Tapco is nice but it is just way too short for me at 9 1/2 inches. The stock I made is about 13 inches with the SGM recoil pad incorporated into it. I made it from a hunk of cherry I had laying around. I will post pics when its all finished. I have a coat of red mahogany stain drying on it right now and plan on using a clear sealant over the stain.
  7. I drilled the screw holes poorly the first go around on my tapco stock. I used a quality epoxy to plug the holes, let dry, sanded, and redrilled more patiently. The second try yielded a snug fit, and no gap between the stock and receiver. Now I have a spare tapco stock that I bought to replace this stock, I'll use that to restore another Saiga =)
  8. The Timbersmith site says they make an unfinished version of birch but I have not seen these for sale anywhere. Has anyone seen these offered anywhere?
  9. i had the same problem, the cheap css trigger guard was a hair wider then the gap in the grip(molot). i still have to take it apart and widen the gap in the grip to fix this.
  10. oops straight from the website "We are currently working on mounts to support the rifle platforms. We are also currently working on additional products to aid in the conversion of the shotgun and rifle platforms." oh well but they are free floating so that's why i asked, i think that will be good...
  11. Will the Fuglystick "slots and holes" forgrip fit on my saiga 7.62 rifle?
  12. thanks guys, i was not trying to bad mouth your project boba. i was just frustrated that i cant just press the easy button here. Classy your absolutely right about putting the project on hold, it will be well worth the wait. The FCG restore went flawlessly, and a special thanks to CSS how the hell does he ship so damn fast??
  13. I saw boba debts project, that is what made me want to do this, i want what he wants, but i dont want a rail floating 2 inches over the dust cover.. Yea the 5 rail systems that CAA and MAKO have out, they are ridiculously expensive, and yes krebs has some really awesome stuff but thats even more expensive then the 5 rail systems. I was hoping someone knew of a gas rail that would work with something like the dog leg which is a little more in my price range =( thanks tho
  14. Ok, so I have been lurking on this site for a long time now... I bought my Saiga a few months ago with the intention of "restoring" it, I am finally getting to that. I ordered the kit from CSS I shouldn't have any trouble with the FCG, My question is about rails. I would like to remove the FSB and use rail mounted iron sights. The theme on the rifle is AR to AK, so I plan on using m16A2 grip, stock, and a carry handle rear sight What I would like to figure out what gas block rail and dust cover rail set up will work with each other, as in, the rail over the gas block and the rail ove
