  1. Maybe heat it up before trying to twist it off? It may expand just enough to loosen it up enough to twist off? I'm just grasping at straws for ya. . .
  2. That flash supressor looks pretty nice. Is there something you used between the fsb and supressor?
  3. I have removed my barrel shroud and my barrel is threaded (yay me!). I am undeceided as to which brake I would like to put on. I know most feel the A-74 brakes are the best, but since my barrel is already threaded, I wanted to just screw something on and go with it, rather than remove the fsb. Any opinions on what is the best brake without dropping a pile of dough?
  4. You're always there when I need you Dr. Thunder! By the way, tightening down my muzzle brake good and tight fixed all of my problems! I think I'm going to go ahead and do the C&R license. For $30 bucks, you can't really lose.
  5. Anybody here go through the process to get a Curios and Relics FFL license? I am debating doing it just so I can buy a few Nagants from aim surplus for cheap. Is it a hassle, are there any negatives? I also heard that you can send your license in to some of the online sellers and get a FFL discount on other items such as ammo and such. Anybody have any first hand knowledge of the subject?
  6. There's no dumb questions on here, bro! Good luck with your conversion, it's a fun project.
  7. You may get lucky and find your barrel is already threaded once you cut your barrel shroud off. I used a pipe cutter to do this rather than a dremel, as the risk of cutting into the barrel is greatly reduced. I was a lucky one and had a threaded barrel. I went with one of Juggernaut's brakes, and have been very happy with it.
  8. Why can't you file the nut down? I used a grinding wheel for mine, but a regular file would do the trick. You could buy a crappy file for a few bucks and take just a few minutes. It isn't hard at all, and you're not risking anything trying, especially since you are planning on buying the new nut anyway. Just my .02.
  9. Can a guy just use Loc-tite to install these brakes? From what I understand the Loc-tite turns back to liquid at high temperatures. While it will harden again once cool, it doesn't do much when the barrel is hot. I actually bought a high temperature o-ring to provide a little torque when tight, just to decrease the possibility of the brake backing off. I haven't shot it yet, but it is on the gun now, and I was lucky enough to have a threaded barrel. I used a pipe cutter to get a nice, clean cut, and things went smooth as silk. I'll post pics later on when i get a little more t
