  1. I lucked into one of the few remaining new 19" Vepr 12 fixed stock models on Gunbroker last week...just got it a few days ago and already dressed her up a little bit. Loving it so far With a few relatives...
  2. Krebs? I've heard nothing but good stuff about them, and most people I've seen that actually got a Krebs loves them.....BUT, personally for over a $1300 asking price, I'd rather start off with a base Saiga/Vepr and modify it to your hearts content and save a couple hundred dollars in the process. Awesome rifles don't get me wrong...but when it comes down to it, an Arsenal/Saiga/Vepr are going to be every bit just as functional and as accurate as a Krebs, the Vepr probably even more so due to the thicker barrel and receiver. The Krebs does look awesome though, but not only is it outside of your
  3. The pic on bottom= the pic on top AFTER being converted. The bottom pic is just some random image i found on googe search of a converted vepr. They are the same rilfe, just with the addition of the bullet guide, flash hider, and folding stock adaptor with a magpul stock. The handguard looks custom, but just from the looks of things, does NOT looks like a hard conversion at all compared to a standard saiga. Looks pretty painless for that particular Vepr model, plus it's just damn sexy...
  4. to a first time ak rilfe owner/buyer...if you care about the rifle holding value, brand recognition, fit and finish, functionality out of the box, and basically being as close to perfectly drivable right off the lot...then yes, grab an Arsenal. Also, if you concern yourself with things like ammo pricing, bullet selection and availability...I would recommond the 7.62x39. Cheaper, mags are cheapest of all the cailbers, and the bullet selection is growing and readily more available. 5.45 is a close second but even though it's technically cheaper, onine or major ammo retailers are really the only
  5. My first Saiga was the .223 which I bought and converted myself. I was pretty intimidated at first, but I am at best a mechanical amateur armed with a cheap set of tools and a dremel...and I still did a damn fine job all by myself (on the floor in my living room at that) over the course of a weekend. I had no vice, no extra set of hands, no workstation...just the floor and my hands. A dremel, a few different drill bits and cutoff wheels where the main tools I used and it was adequate enough. If I could go back and do it again, the only thing I probably would've done differently was go with
  6. Not all Saiga...but gun porn is gun porn... And a family pic...
  7. My Saiga...now with hk rear sight... Next to big brother...
  8. None whatsoever...I just bought the MOE stock/CAA tube kit from CSS and it all fit together perfectly, and feels and handles great. I had the tapco t6 before it and must say it is a VAST upgrade, and is very solid. Thanks btw...
  9. Here's what it used to look like... Kinda miss the hybrid look it had but I REALLY like having a vertical foregrip. The light probably won't always be on there but for the moment why not? Other than that, a G3 style rotating drum rear sight will be mounted on the dust cover very soon...may not be the most stable rear peep option out there but I'm positive it should make my groups tighter than what they are, and it looks great
  10. I got one...doesn't work. No BG here...
  11. I bought a tapco galil mag the other day just to see if it would work...and so far, it wobbles quite a bit from side to side, and even though I haven't shot it yet, doesn't seem like it will feed properly.
  12. Hello all!!! Just finished my conversion sunday morning...done on the floor of my apartment with a drill and a dremel........because I'm just cool like that Here's what we started with... Here's what we ended with... My first major gun operation ever...hopefully I'll be doing a .308 or 7.62x39 soon because yes, like so many have said before...this is addictive...
  13. Got the cetme in '08 unfortunately when they were going for $599...add in the tapco stock, utg tri rail, and various other odds and ends...I'd say around about $800 sadly :-( I could probably get my bolt gap at least up to .008" with some new rollers, bolt head, and locking piece...but considering I have zero gap right now, I don't think it'll ever be the recommended .018"-.012" range that in spec rifles should be in without getting the barrel repressed. As far as the saiga, it's new in box, and I can just swap the rifles outright if I'm lucky...worst case I might pay $50-$75 on top o
