  1. From what I've seen you really do not need a press for the FSB. Quite a few people have made a horizontal cut with a dremel downthe fsb. Broken in two prices with a chisel and pounded on a new one without use of a press. That's what I plan to do. Although I do have access to a press if need be. I also hear that the '74 brake is very functional at reducing muzzle flip and flash. The recoil isn't bad with the 7.62 but follow up shots would e much easier for me with less muzzle flip. I just need to find a place to get a cheap '74 FSB because I am certainly not paying 90 bucks for one from Danzig,
  2. First off. I couldn't find if you mentioned if the rifle and shotgun are converted or not and what they are running for parts.
  3. Thanks for the info. Did you guys have the quick detach or the three Allen screw mounts?
  4. Alright guys, does anyone have any hard evidence of this thing being a pos? For th price I'm really considering getting one to mount a Primary Arms aimpoint clone. is the bp02 so much better it worth twice the price??
  5. Welcome! Awesome rifles! That saiga would be even cooler without that bullet button Haha
  6. I asked the same question when I got my first ak platform a year or two ago. Seems like a fairly commonly covered topic. Maybe this could be stickied??
  7. I will never, repeat never, put 350 through my saiga in ten minutes. No matter the situation. Target shooting or shtf. It just won't happen. I don't have the ammo stockpile or equipment to carry that much ammunition. If you want a suppressive fire MG. the arsenal or saigas are notfor that. Thank you for telling me what I already knew buddy. Buy a registered FA RPK if you want that. There is an appropriate Russian tool for that job.
  8. Ya I hear ya. Just piece of mind I guess.
  9. Upon further inspection chilie Is definatly right. The left side was milled to about half thickness of the right. What's the sight leaf made of? Could I take it out add a little weld in that one spot on very very low heat and file to a snug fit?
  10. Thanks for your help eagle. If you wouldn't mind getting a set of calipers around yours. If it the slightest bit wider than mine, maybe we could work something out for it
  11. Here are a few more Pics to show the movement. First tel are were it sits normally. Third and fourth are pushed over to show the movement
  12. Mine was definatly put together(sights were horribly canted, worse than wasr canted) and trunnions were milled by some drunk Russian. This bites
  13. There is no way to reach the trigger once you move it forward. Just go with the tapco origal ak style if you are tight on money. It almost half the price the k var. That's what I did, and I am happy with it
  14. Thanks for the pics eagle. That's just what I was afraid of. This rifle aready went back for warranty work but afraid that has long run out. Damn. Any suggestions?
  15. It's not that spring pressure is not strong enough. It's quite strong actually. It's that the sides of the notch in the trunnion which holds the sight leaf from left and right movement seems to be to wide for the sight and it is pressed up against the right side of said notch. The gap circled in this photo does not exist on the opposite side.
  16. Thanks for help guys. Should I squeeze with a vice where the actual pivot point for the leaf is or try to bend the the section I show in the picture in a little? It seems that the section were the gap actually is would be pretty hard to bend?
  17. If you like the new trigger and balance point. (Like Jim said) install a bullet guide and you'll just love $8, steel, rock solid magazines. Everyone on here that is a "conversion freak" has just eaten some of the grass on the other side of that fence. And in this instance, it is incredibly more tasty!!
  18. It's never been dropped in my possession. The part of the trunnion that houses the pivot for the leaf is pretty tight. It's just the sight seems it's supposed to be tightly contained in the half inch section towered the butt of the pivot. It's pressed against the right side but I can push to left in the space you see in the picture. I guess I could squeeze that section with a vice to try to take away that gap shown in the picture
  19. Here is what It looks like. Were yours as bad as this? I can move the actual notched sighting section of leaf about 1/8th inch to left.
  20. Same thing happens with mine. Don't be gentle with it. If you think about it certainly isn't gentle when it chambers a round after firing. It needs a little force to get the big extractor claw over the lip of the case.
  21. hey guys I was around here for a while but have been caught up in a bunch of other stuff lately and haven't had the time to show my saiga the appropriate amount of love. while cleaning my converted 7.62 after a day shooting i realized that my rear sight leaf does not fit snugly in the rear sight block. The right of the sight is pushed hard against the trunnion on the right side but i can push it probably 1-2mm to left hand side. as soon as i let it go it snaps right back to right hand side right up against the cut out of the trunnion. my question is is this supposed to be a snug fit?
  22. But seriously do the bullet guide. Trunnion was thinner and softer than I thought it was. Take your time. And you can use ten dollar mags without having to weld on them.
  23. I swear imtrustions should read "if round fails to fully chamber, while keeping rifle pointed downrange, use palm of hand or spare magazine to slam changing handle into forward position, pull trigger and continue to destroy what is targeted!!!" everytime I let one of my AR buddies shoot my rifle they do this and think theyre awesome because they broke an ak ahahahah not the case at all.
  24. not converted and said "clip"......blahh
  25. cabelas has them..im sure if you google it you'll find many more
