  1. I think that real nice of you You've been nothing but good I really appreciate it ~
  2. 3 major Factors why I'd want a S12 over a 308. 1. The S12 can lob slugs accurately a 100yrds with no problem. 2. The way I think about it... I'm not entering a fight unless I absolutely have too do it for my own protection (defense only). 3. Defensively I don't need to reach out to 200+ yards, cause if a threat is that far away im still planning to avoid it (not get its attention). Thats why the S12 was my 1st Saiga (and why for years I had my eye on one) ...just wish I woulda bought it years ago (at less than half the price) lol
  3. Hey do any of you 308 owners have dented brass when its ejected? My brass was denting today (my x39's don't do that). When I looked at potential causes It was apparent... the side opening on the top cover is almost flush with the punch on the reviver that makes the shell pop out. Is dented brass a common thing with 308's?
  4. Thanks guys Its a slightly used one. Original owner says it had one range trip with less than 50rnds through it (from the looks of the internals that sounds about right). Yeah Chillie ...I looked-up your picture last night to compare Owner says he bought it in 2010 from Miss Auto Arms (stamped 09 on the receiver), and it came with that Top-cover. I swapped on a Saiga cover from another rifle (& had a spare ribbed-cover to put on that one). Just a total of $570 to get it into my hands ....meeaaaa I'm happy! Now I just gotta get a good scope set-up for it! ....That crap scope m
  5. I'm off to a goofy start with my 1st scope'd-AK I don't quite know what to expect as far as accuracy goes So today I took my Ver21 out for some shooting. I started off with iron sights @ 25yds (shot 3Rnds), and they were so close together (1.5 holes right in the bulleye) that I didnt even shot Irons anymore. Then I started with the scope (I never shot with a scope on an AK before). I slowly worked my way on target (Sometime the bullets would group real tight and then I'd a a winger or two). It felt like things were taking more time than usual. There were fast winds with up to 30mph
  6. CSSpecs makes & sells metal 20Rnd 308 mags. ProMag makes 25Rnd'ers, & SureFire sells 10, 15, 20, & 25Rnd Mags for 308's too.
  7. After years of passing up the S12 for 300, 400 ....I finally got one at $750!!! (OUCH!!) & thats because I thought I had to have once in case they were't going to be imported anymore. At the 800, 900, 1000+ prices that the S12's are going for now ...I wouldnt buy one even if it meant I was never going to get one. But since I had my S12 ....& 7.62x39's ....Adding a 308 to my AK Collection just felt like a natural progression lol
  8. Yeah huh... after looking at my S12; its exactly the same Thanks csspecs
  9. Thanks check this photo out: You think if I put a regular 7.62x39 dust cover on then I'll be good to go? I have extras
  10. Questions about 308's ...Do the springs have a 2nd smaller dust guard similar to the S12? You know... how the dust cover opening is bigger on the S12 because of the bigger shell, so the spring has a extra cover that fills the gap between the bolt & dust cover? My Ver21 seems to be missing this if it does
  11. She's a Look'R I like the Dark wood . . . If she shoots as good as she looks ...I'll be a very happy man
  12. Why the heck are they $570??? ..its like they're going the way of the S12 (soon to be 600-700) This is what has kept me away from the 308. When I found a Ver21 for less than a new s308, I bought first; thought later lol
  13. Quality on mine seems real good. I bought it at a local shop that had 3. I probably took 15+mins meticulously comparing them all (all looked good enough to me, but at the time I was a total AK-newb). Being able to look the rifle over before buying it would be the ONLY way I'd feel good about buying ANY cheaper AK-variant.
  14. Receiver flats? Whats that? I didnt build the rifle from scratch. I bought it assembled (which the builder builds from Romy parts). It originally looked like this: ...I then added some Romy Folding parts that I got from another parts kit, & thats what you see above.
  15. And a little action right after I got it put together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdaZPhMXdu0
  16. I Love these! Very nice! I keep thinking about a Draco, but I always come back to wanting a front grip, and don't wanna have to pay the "any other" tax. The tax keeps me turning back to the Rifle (just 4" longer or less if the Draco has a Muzzle break). I'd still love to have a draco though LOL!
  17. I got this I.O. AK Its was my first AK. About 2 hours before I bought it I hadnt ever seriously considered an AK before, but once I had it and shot it... well lets just say I've been seriously infected with the AK-Craze! I'm ruined for life! When I bought it, the idea was to have a firearm that would work for me at any time & in any condition (the AK's reputation came to mind). I wanted something that I could take hiking & camping and not worry about getting some scuffs and scrapes on it (I wanted a Duty-gun, not a Range-gun, or a Safe-queen). Bottom line... I needed something com
  18. I have to admit I was a little surprised that its so tuff to load these things. Not that Im having problems loading it, but it's the stiffest mag I've EVER loaded (but hey if it works then its good right!)
  19. Ahhh Thanks Csspecs. Yes your are the one I was thinking of. Sorry about the confusion of mixing you up with CSS. ~~~~~So if I have a Saiga, then what I really want are standard saiga 308 mags (not the Vepr mags)? Thanks for the advice on 922r compliance
  20. Hey AZG Yeah, looks like thats it Here's an auction Picture So I guess it is a Saiga then; not a Vepr. Up until now I've spent half my day researching Vepr's. I was getting all excited about having a Vepr; now I'm a little bummed, but not much cause I thought I was buying a Saiga when I bid on it anyways A couple hours ago I asked the seller what year is stamped on the receiver; he says 09 ...so it must be a Saiga Vepr-clone? Do these Saiga Ver21's have the thicker receiver & crome-lined parts that the real Veprs have Either way I'm happy ...and good lordy I hope i'm don
  21. Maybe its not a Vepr? ...is there such a thing as a Saiga 308 Ver 21??? I don't know what the heck I've bought now LOL
  22. So I bought a Vepr in .308 with a 21" barrel today (at least thats what I believe it to be) As far as "Vepr" goes, it was an impulse buy (I never even heard of a Vepr before today). In fact I actually thought it was a Saiga 308, & "Vepr" was the model-type. I came across it because I had been shopping around for a larger caliber rifle. I was searching Saiga 308's because I've got the Saiga-Bug. Plus I do like the looks of nice wood-furniture on Saiga. The Auction caught my eye because of the Wood, & I thought it was extra cool that the "Ver 21" model had a forward trigger g
  23. EDIT: csspecs, not css "IF" I had a Vepr... I'd buy these, buuuut I don't Thanks csspecs
