  1. I went with a KVAR side mount and a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot. Thousands of rounds down range and never had to change a setting once it was zeroed. Only took about 20 rounds to zero it perfectly. Zeroed at 50 yards, I am on target from 25 yards out to about 150 without changing my point of aim (obviously it hits a bit lower at 150, but still can make a center mass shot every time if I do my part).
  2. If YOU like it, that's what matters. Don't blame you with the dislike of the bullet button.... That sucks. It sucks all places cant be trigger happy like PA. I really liked my setup, unconverted with the t6. I shot with it quite a bit and it wasnt bad. Its a fuckin shame you have to jump through hoops just to have a normal rifle. I fully agree. If I was not tied to the state with my family and work, I would be out of CA in a heartbeat. In any event, I make due for the time being.
  3. I have use it on a bolt action rifle I refinished. This stuff is really durable and has been unaffected by hoppes and sweets solvents.
  4. I went with the T6 stock because I am in CA and could not rationalize the cost of conversion, only to have a bullet button on it. For what it is worth, I personally like the Tapco stock.
  5. My BP-02 has front to back play (about a quarter'ish of an inch). Does anyone else have this problem? Mine did at first. It frustrated me until I realized that I could tighten it by one more notch on the nut. It is a little harder to get on and off, and a little harder to lock it on with the arm, but now it does not move at all when in the locked position. Give it a try. Turn the nut one more increment tighter. It should still slide on with a little effort.
  6. None that I have seen. Some guns have trouble cycling SPs, but I have not heard of this problem with AK based weapons. There are some SPs in 7.62x39 that have a really rounded nose, and I have heard of people with AKs not being abole to cycle them. This is not an issue for the Bear brands, Wolf, Winchester, MFS, or other SPs I have tried (since the bullet is the same basic shape of an FMJ but with a SP). I have read that the Russian SP bullets (I.e Bear, Wolf, etc) dont actually expand like a true SP should. This is probably the case, but from my experience, the Russian SPs do more damage
  7. I have had no problems cycling Silver Bear hollowpoints, though they may not actually expand as they should (like stated above). I have done some basic testing of various rounds through small 20 oz water bottles at the range. All the FMJ rounds I shot passed cleanly through the bottled. So cleanly in fact, many times did not even knock over the bottle as it passed through. The Golden Bear Soft Points and Brown Bear SPs would literally explode the bottle as they exit. All shots were taken with the same gun and at 100 yards. No exactly a scientific experiment, but it was good enough for me
  8. Like others have stated above, I have a Bushnell TRS 25 mounted on a K-VAR side rail. I have put well over 2K rounds through it without a problem. Holds zero perfectly and was quick to sight in.
  9. Thanks for the feedback everyone. My main concern was the 2 hour drive home before I could clean then gun. I will do a quick bore clean at the range and then do a full clean that night.
  10. Yeah, I was confident when I bought it that it was non-corrosive based on the box. However, some have noted that it was in fact corrosive and was probably re-boxed. Most of these people seemed to have gotten the ammo from gun shows or private parties, so who knows what they in fact bought. I guess to play it safe, I will just clean the gun after I shoot the ammo tomorrow at the range. I am all for gun cleaning, I just think "mandatory" cleaning on an AK takes away from why I bought this rifle in the first place (that is the reliability even in the face of little-to-no cleaning/oiling)
  11. I have searched this site and others on the internet, and heard conflicting reports about Ulyanovsk ammo actually being corrosive. I want to know what your experiences with this ammo is in regards to it being corrosive. I realize in a perfect world I should clean my gun after each use, but I dont (and do not plan to do so). I have about 300 rounds of this stuff I got for cheap, and before I shoot it, I just wanted to throw this question out there. Thanks a ton to all who respond!
  12. I just picked up a Saiga 7.62x39 and love it. I plan on installing a bullet guide and getting some standard AK mags, but in the mean time only have two 10 round mags. Loading a magazine up, the 10 rounds are only about 1/2 the total length of the magazine. Obviously, much of the remaining space is the compressed spring, but it seems like a lot of remaining space. I took the mag apart and saw the spring is pretty long, so maybe the entire space is just for the spring. In the mean time, while I am waited on the bullet guide and new mags, is it possible to modify the 10 round mag to hold mor
