  1. "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." - Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (Japanese Navy) I agree with your opinion, however I believe the quote is bogus. http://www.factcheck...oting-yamamoto/ I wasn't actually there to be able to verify whether the quote is correctly attributed or not. I really have no idea, and I don't give a rats ass. It's a damn good quote - whoever said it. It was true then, and it is true now. P.S. Here's some background on "Factcheck.org".... I found it on the internet... http:
  2. I ordered my S12 already converted by PFI, so I didn't switch out the stock myself. Right now it has the Tapco T6 stock, which i'm not a huge fan of. I'd like a magpul adjustable with an Ace push-button folding mechanism. What exactly do I need to make the switch? I see posts about M4 buffer tubes and retaining plates - please help me understand. Thanks
  3. How about other benefits besides better cycling - like keeping the gas block clean..?
  4. My S12 runs great the way it is now and cycles Federal Bulk, but I'm adding the Titan quad rail soon so I want to make sure it's ultra reliable beforehand. Is there a benefit to getting a different puck? If it makes a difference my S12 is converted and I use the v plug. Thanks

  6. Wow that's exactly the information I was looking for. Awesome - thanks! I'll look into getting those supplies. Do you use wheel weights for lead casting? I hear they're not making those out of lead anymore - is that right? Are there other common or cheap lead based items that you can melt down and use, or do you buy the lead directly from someone?
  7. I want to get into reloading just for fun, and to save one buckshot / slug ammo. Is it reasonable to think I can save on these types of loads? So what is everything that I need, and where do you suggest I purchase it from? I've been spending a lot on buckshot ammo and want to give reloading a chance.
  8. I might not have been clear in first post - I'm already converted. It was done by PFI and looks/functions great.
  9. So I have a "Hobby Budget" for my gun hobby which is $70/month, which I've been saving for a few months. I'm debating what my next modification/upgrade should be. Up to this point I've bought the S12 itself from PFI (converted, gas holes opened up, Tapco T6 stock, V-plug) plus I bought an MD-20 drum, shotgun case, cleaning kit, and lots of Federal Bulk ammo. I have $365 to spend and it's burning a hole in my pocket. The gun shoots perfectly with Federal bulk and all heavy loads (Buck, slugs) with no malfunctions. I tried Winchester bulk and it shot 4 in a row with no issues and FTE on the
  10. If I order a Titan today, when can I expect to recieve it? The site says late Sept early Oct.. is that accurrate?
  11. Here's my pup! He's 10 months old and 90 lbs in the picture. He's actually happy in the picture and having a great time - not angry like he looks.
  12. What can I use to clean the black painted areas of the saiga 12? I know I have to be careful as to not strip the paint off, right? Is there a soap solution that I can use for these outter parts that wont pull off the finish? Also what moving parts do I need to clean besides the puck? What should I use to clean said parts? Also which internals need to me lubed? Thanks for any insight.
  13. I put about 300 rounds through my Saiga since new, so I think it's time to clean it. Are there any videos out there (I did try searching) that show exactly what's needed to break down and clean the saiga 12 shotgun? I was planning on heading to Cabelas for the cleaning tools this evening. Thanks, Ryan
  14. I thought The Road was much more realistic than Book of Eli. In book of Eli water is a rare commodity but people are sitting around drinking alcohol? There were a ton of things in that movie that don't add up. I thought The Road didn't push the boundries of what would be realistic in a situation like that. Thanks for the links! I'll be checking these out tonight!
  15. What is the advantage of steel hull 12g ammo? Also are they available now that it's 8 yrs later?
  16. So if the gun is running very well right now, should I not get the polishing done? If I understand it correctly the polishing just lowers friction, which means a little less gas is needed to cycle.. would getting the polishing done make me slightly over-gassed if it's running fine currently without the polishing?
  17. Right now I'm having no issues with the gun at all - I was just thinking I could beef up the parts a bit with the stronger op rod & pin. That's a good idea maybe I'll just buy them and keep them here just in case. I will shoot probably 1000 rounds per year on my saiga12. Yesterday I put about 250 rounds through it.
  18. Thanks I understand now. So I could do the Pin and Op rod later and that wouldn't matter, right? Also is there any functional advantage to getting the carrier polished too (I believe Pauly calls this the "Ice Rack") besides the obvious asthetics?
  19. Sorry - yes the thicker op rod.
  20. I'm interested in making my Saiga 12 as reliable and long-lasting as possible for my SHTF backup. It fires federal bulk 100% on setting 5. I want to get the internals polished by Pauly and my question is... Is it smart to first get the heavy hitter pin and stronger bolt before getting it polished? Will this add to the reliability of the weapon?
  21. I live in Illinois, the only state that doesn't allow concealed carry. I had a conversation last night with my (very liberal) inlaws. My father in law said "I dont think Concealed carry works.. I've never heard of a life being saved because of a person concealing a weapon stopping a crime.. it doesn't really happen". This HAS to be false.. I did a quick Google and found a million posts with stories about lives being saved. The problem is that if I show him these links he'll say it's republican propoganda, etc.. So my question is, is there a link to a NEWS article or something that is impa
  22. A few people are making it sound like I said I wanted to join for the money.. I said I know the money will be less than what I'm making currently but I want the adventure. Thanks for the info everyone - lots of good points and lots to consider.
