  1. When you received this did you cry and give a horrible speech? Very funny! Happy Birthday!
  2. This is the stock on my gun. It is an ATI stock my brother found at a local shop, I think it was $45. It is a six position collapsable folder and IMO it is more sturdy than a Tapco. If you remove the rubber butt pad it will fold and clear an MD-20. I think this is the best S-12 stock available. The other folders that work with the drums are too short when extended. The only drawback I see is that if you fire the stock in it's fully collapsed position, the folding mechanism gets a little to close to your face, not a problem for me as I like a longer stock anyway.
  3. I think that is going to be my next purchase, I am a Michigan guy as well. What stupid laws we have in this state! My brother used to have a Mini 14 with a factory folder, MI considers it a hand gun because it is less than 30 inches folded. Did you purchase the rifle locally or order online?
  4. I installed one on mine and decided to put the original back in. The mags just seemed to have a little more front to back movement. I wish they were sold extra tall, and then the end user could file down the proper amount, and you could get a better fit for all of your mags, IMO. My factory one still allows for some movement in my AGP10rd and Surefire12rd, if I was able to grind the proper amount off the top, I could have my stick mags fit like an MD drum, Not an expert here but why aren't these sold longer? Another issue I noticed with the factory catch, is that it isn'y "square" on th
  5. I am surprised nobody has stocked up on the 7.62x54R. This stuff is cheap and in spam cans. I bought a real nice 91/30 Nagant for $80 at a gun show. Also have some of the M44 carbines. This is a great high power round and if you miss the fireball might get them! The ammo would be $90 delivered for a 440 round spam can, so for $170 you get so much value. Save your 308 for your long range shots/hunting, but if you need high power at close range (zombies on riding lawnmowers), this is a great value! I got a real good deal on my rifle, but they are readily available for less than
  6. I set myself up for that one. I view it as an insurance policy and can agree it is probably excessive, maybe not a good "value" for the money, however, it will almost guarantee the elimination of some potential problems. I just don't ever want to be the person who has a failure. I really enjoy reading the forum and the diverse opinions are informative and keep it interesting.
  7. I would suggest looking at other threads before you start a new one. The thread directly below yours(at the time I responded) discusses this very topic. You will find your answers there.
  8. its been my experience that slugs deform even more than buckshot rounds. agp mags tend to really force the front of the round into the bolt, and with the slugs i had there is no material to reinforce the structure of the round. Would it be possible to "reinforce" a 12GA round? I am not a reloading guy, however, maybe a steel tube could be inserted inside of the 12GA round, and loaded with buck shot or your personal choice. I was thinking a tube that goes all the way into the brass and up to the top of the plastic, maybe I'll start a thread on this topic.
  9. I am having one installed when I get my polishing done, I just never want to take it for someone to shoot and have a failure. With that same logic, also installing a tromix firing pin. I certainly understand the "if it ain't broke" crowd, however, I am one of those guys who would worry about it. After this work is done I won't have to worry about either, those that don't will always have a slight risk of failure. With all the money already invested what's a few extra bucks anyway? I don't just want a Saiga 12, I want a top of the line S12.
  10. With all the info here I finally have something to add. ATI makes a collapasable folder, it will clear the drum, if you remove the butt pad. My brother found the ATI stock at a local gun shop and we used it for my conversion. I didn't even think to try it with the drum, just assumed it wouldn't work. Imagine my surprise when I was looking at it and noticed that it appeared to clear. The only drawback would be that the folding mechanism gets close to your nose if the stock is collapsed. Hope this helps . I like it because if it is a folder that clears the drum, unless it
