  1. OK Looking over that setup I can understand why it would fire 2-3 rounds. Seems that would be a spring issue, the hold down spring (lower outside receiver) putting more pressure than the magazine pushes up.
  2. I really don't see why it could not be fitted.
  3. I did come across one option that so far seems the most viable and cleanest.
  4. Does anyone make a LRBHO? In the limited looking that I have done I have yet to see one. Figured I would ask here to see before I try a go at it. I was looking for something that was not a mag mod and hopefully some type of drop in item and not a hack up the receiver thing. Ed
  5. The #1 reason to opt for the dinzag parts was so I can use the upper handguard, also to make it look fully like an ak47.
  6. If you notice the ejection pattern in the video a few of the shells are ejecting lower than the others. I would have to guess here that there is a timing problem and they are hitting something. I would be looking at the shells for tattle tale marks.
  7. Yes the retainer is from Dinzag. The guard shape is a U, while the retainer shape is more of a V which means the ends are flared out but I was able to bend them inwards yielding a much tighter fit on the guard, esp side to side motion. Also at the range I noticed the gas tube was not heating up but the barrel sure was. I was somewhat afraid the gas tube would be to hot to touch and I would be touching it with no guard in place but that was not the case at all. Here you can clearly see the areas that need to be aligned.
  8. I am looking for a trigger guard that is not aluminum, something that actually matches the receiver. Any ideas?
  9. Ok I figured I would give one more update on this project. I was able to fit the lower guard in place, I also used glassbedding on it for a perfect fit and had to do some changes to the retainer ring but she's tight and holds up good. A few mods to the BHO. I can easily enage that and force the bolt open during operation (Meaning push the BHO, squeeze the trigger and bolt will stay open) This is pre-bed and pre-changes to the retaining ring. Basically I just changed the profile to hold it to this grip. I intend to apply park after I change the rear sights. But for n
  10. how about some photo's of things first before everyone goes off on tangents and tells you to do crap that does not need to be done?
  11. er? so what is the difference in the factory vs JTE? dimension wise that is. You should be able to bend the spring as needed to do the same job.
  12. exactly I am with you on that one. $400ish for a magazine is just wrong on so many levels it's not funny. If you managed to get past the sticker shock you will see they list it as workable in 80% of the saiga's on the market and they urge you to use their service to make things fit.
  13. I'd be interested in reading that........thanks! Here. http://forum.saiga-1...y-new-saiga-12/ Yes Warranty? Seriously? Considering they are not properly cleaned up when they leave the manufacture and they need extensive work to make them run reliably I would have to say if you are concerned about warranty's then you should be buying something like remington, bernelli, etc.
  14. This looks almost like mine, I well documented the problems and how to fix it.
  15. Don't forget to lube up the bolt where it twist, some graphite works wonders.
  16. I fit the lower guard in place tonight. I dont have the retainer in yet, hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I did some clean up on the upper guard as well. In these photo's they are just sitting there, not bolted in place. I cut the BHO slot, Next on this will be some filework on the tab. some selective polishing on the bolt and carrier. view from below where it matters! I added some gunslick to a few areas and some spray oil all over and she's baby ass smooth now.
  17. I had several double feed's with my s12 right out of the box.
  18. That's a common double stack, What happens is the bolt fails to remove the first one and pushes the second shell into the chamber but is stuck.
  19. As for the yanking out of my hand the more slop you have the more chances that will happen, also higher speed the more likely. I took some follow up post for the polishing that I did do. I used tetra lube then dumped 50 rounds, this is the results. The bolt is not mirror by no means. I put lube on the rails, the hammer and the carrier rear flat. This area is a major pain in the ass. This is the slot where the bolt fits into and rotates. The bottom had major ripples in it. This is the rear bottom of the carrier. It slides across the bolt. What troubles me about t
  20. the Angle grinder thing may be workable, I do have one of those as well. My lathe is a Jet 1220 and it is damned good for stuff like this. I mostly use it to make pens. I also have a foredom tool and that may be the best thing to use. I was looking at my huge selection of flapwheels I have.
  21. Ok I misunderstood, I heard competition and thought many many many rounds but 500 is barely broke in. I posted in my http://forum.saiga-1...y-new-saiga-12/ post about this very same issue. The problem comes from post work cleanup. Many areas need some work, some more than others. Areas to look at: chamber loading ramp; Upper barrel ramp; Bolt lugs; Carrie rear ramp; Gas piston and tube. As with any firearm the quality of the mechanics are directly related to how clean and smooth the parts are. If you have burs, rough surfaces and the like then well it will feel like sandpaper, jams,
  22. Few things to check, Move the bolt carrier SLOWLY from closed to fully open back to close. What you are looking for is rough spots and hangups. It would appear you have some major spots at the last few inches which is likely the bolt and ammo being used. Might want to clean that thing very good, esp where the joint is at and make sure it does twist good. Next time this condition happens notice where the carrier is located at and if indeed it is fully closed. Also clean around the chamber very good, i.e. bronze brush and some good cleaner. Flip it upside down so you are looking into t
  23. If it's not the vent then what it is it?
