  1. spread sheet worked for me - FIXED I input : MD20 accepts 2.25" shells, This is the length of a US made 12 gauge shell (Winchester, Remington) UNFIRED. Duplek 28 marked 2 3/4" is already 2 1/2ths of a inch UNFIRED. Treat like a 3" shell. I input: duplex 32 as I measured 2 7/8" on 4 boxes. This was UNFIRED LENGTH - should be 2.25th of a inch UNFIRED to work in MD20/ProMag 20. It is b.s. to claim that 2 7/8" is a european measure for 2 3/4" - they print on the box 2 3/4". That is sloppy tolerances. to note the UNFIRED 2 1/2" shells will feed via factory 5 rnd mag,
  2. consider this - its only about $85 to $120 for a mosin nagent too! Right now, the biggest problem was finding a decent scope mount. So pick and choose your mosin to get one that is not a beater. Again, the 7.62x54r is also fun because it is russian mil ammo - so its cheap and special purpose stuff to find...
  3. man it still takes me awhile to fully appreciate the Saiga 12. Its russian, stamped metal components, lil slop - and HEY! WTF! twisted wire for my hammer?! Ugh! I got the price of ammo down to about .60 per round - but blowing through 20 round drums (pro-mags) is too easy. Of course everyone on the range has to come over and beg to try it out. I like to train practical/tactical - and trying to figure out a loadout for the Saiga 12 is tough - I cannot see it as a primary weapon due to the limited amount of mags and rounds I could carry if I was hiking. I see the Saiga as a vehicle mount or
  4. I mentioned a 600 yard range - it is here also. It is open for events, otherwise it has 100 and 200 yard static range. They have skeet, trap, indoor pistol, combat pistol indoor night. The 12 outdoor bays mean you own it - so you can set up targets from 50 to 80 yards and run your own drills. I suggest the NRA RSO program offered here too.
  5. I shoot 200 yds, You can see a human sized target easily and hold the iron sights to center mass - you will at least expect your rounds to impact somewhere within 10" of your sight. A 3X you will be sure to impact within 5" of your sight. A 9x you will be hitting quarters at 200 yards. (with nice rifle like Remington 700 mind you) We have shot a mostin nagant at 200 yards and everyone made hits within the 10" group with iron sights. So far attempts to mount a scope has failed due to the off set mount. I also shoot at 600 yards, you want at least a 12x
  6. Port Huron - off Ravenswood. http://www.bluewatersportsmansassociation.com/
  7. Hmm I was considering the recoil buffer for the Saiga 12 - obviously it has plenty of recoil. I will monitor that spot on the rear receiver for wear and decide ..
  8. I was excited about the price and style of the BoneSteel stock - but too bad - its only Right folding. Left folding stock means it folds to the side opposite of the ejection port and allows a right handed shooter to grip and fire while its folded. The only issue I heard about left folding is it can bump into your scope mount on the left side of the receiver, if you use it. Waiting on the ACE..
  9. hey squish, Yea I run the Pro-mags. I figure out of spec rounds will work in stick mags. Pro-mag Drums (or MD20 as you guys call 'em?) have very little tolerance for anything beyond 2 3/4" - 2 7/8" will jam both mine.
  10. 1. squad support auto rifles fire from open bolt. If the AK47 or AR15 do not have an open bolt - they are at risk for cook offs. 2. The AR15 was only meant for 12 - 18 rounds per minute sustained fire. The newer ARs will fail at the gas tube and be single shot. sustained rate of fire is about 20 rounds per minute, intense rate of fire is 30 to 40 rounds per minute. " The AK-47 has a full-auto cyclical rate-of-fire of 600 rpm, a practical rate-of-fire in full-auto of 100 rpm, and a practical rate-of-fire in semi-auto of 40 rpm.[112] The M16 has a full-auto cyclical rate-of-fire of 70
  11. Humm Sellier Bellot 2 3/4 fits 5 rnd factory mag and Pro-Mag 20 rnd drum - and cycles fine. I wanted to warn - DO NOT try Duplek Monolit slugs - the 2 3/4" shells are really 2 7/8"! - They will work in 5 rnd factory mag, but jam the Pro-mag 20 rnd drum. In the 5 rnd mag, it cycles fine, muzzle flash noted. (steel slugs suck compared to lead slugs anyways.) I shoot Winchester 00 and slugs, Federals, some high power bird shot. Some low brass, low recoil bird shot will fail to cycle. Gas port checked and fine. DNR
  12. I was glad to read a few guys know about the Blue water sportsmen's club. You got to love their open bays for dynamic shooting. The 3 Gun Matches and the Zombie Match are great too! Only $140 for one year membership, why go to Huron Pointe, Richmond, Brown Bear and pay for $11- $15 an hour? I run in 3 Gun and help as RSO. So I learned very qucikly the Saiga 12 was the biggest cheater for 3 gun - I watch every pump or semi-auto (benelli type) load each shell one at a time, click, click, and the stop watch ticks on. A 12 rnd mag in the Saiga means you can run a stage with no reloading! I
  13. I buy from SGAmmo.com - I have no problems with Sellier Bellot ammunition 12 gauge and it is the cheapest. AVOID Dupleks' monolit steel slugs - while the box says 2 3/4" - they really are 2 7/8" - they will work in factory 5 rnd mag, but jam in ProMag 20rnd drum. And steel slugs do less damage than lead slugs. http://www.sgammo.com/product/12-gauge/250-rd-case-12-gauge-12-pellet-oo-buckshot-sellier-bellot-275-inch-ammo 250 rd case - 12 gauge 12 pellet OO buckshot Sellier Bellot 2.75 inch ammo $148 http://www.sgammo.com/product/12-gauge/250-rd-case-12-gauge-pmc-buck-shot-numb
