  1. I haven't tried them myself, but why pay $55 for plastic when you can pay $45 for steel? http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=36718
  2. Thanks. I was looking at this particular break because of its ability to vastly reduce muzzle climb as opposed to the Vortex which is designed to only eliminate recoil. And since I will have a smith do my barrel work I am not too worried about the difficulty.
  3. I would get the Saiga. #1 It will do just as well as a bolt gun on whitetails out to 200 yards. #2 It will make a better SHTF firearm. #3 The chances of the Saiga getting banned is much greater.
  4. I am able to clean mine just fine without taking off the scope and rail.....
  5. Were you hunting with soft points, pointed soft points, etc? I noticed after my hunting trip last week that the soft lead tip of my top round had deep scratches from several insertions and ejections. I am not sure which action was causing the scratches, I will try to look at it more closely this weekend.
  6. Might as well put in my 2 cents. I took an old 3 pointer last week at 120 yards using 150 grain Winchester super x power points here in Georgia. I took out both lungs and he ran about 15 yards before piling up in some thickets. The Winchesters were giving me 3 inch groups at 100 yards. Gonna try out some 165 grain balistic tips and soft points when I get a chance. Good luck everyone! No pics of the deer but here is my baby.
  7. This will be the 1st year with my Saiga too. But, I got one with my SKS last year.
  8. +1 on that! I was finally able to fire my baby this weekend and had the same issue. Very fustrating. But a lesson was learned. I also have to say that the RSA VEPR trigger is awesome!
  9. Here she is finally. New RSA trigger VEPR trigger. New 20 round mag. Burris Fullfield II 3x9 Scope Butt stock is a Dragunov clone, that my wife refinished for me along with the forearm stock. I cut an extension for it and added a limb saver pad. Added a cheek riser.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I will probably get a gun smith to turn the barrel down and threaded, unless the cost is way too much. What can I expect the cost to be for something like that, BTW?
  11. Awesome! I plan on getting the barrel threaded by a gun smith and removing the FSB any way. So it looks like I have one more decision made on my conversion.
  12. I am looking into getting a break for my yet to arrive S-308. I like that this break has uniform vents, but god it is ugly as sin. Would this work? It does have a thread pitch of 9.16 x 24 LH. http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?id=82aa...33-21aa1d5ee4e4
  13. When I get a 16" I will be putting one on. But since I will also be using my 22" for hunting, I want something less intimedating.
