  1. Well, the election results are in so I went ahead and bought it. $925 seems insane for a stamped AK, but it is a really nice gun, and in a year all AKs will probably cost 10X as much.
  2. I'm considering the purchase of an Arsenal SLR-107. The market for quality AKs up here in Anchorage, AK is pretty limited, but I found a shop that has two different side folder versions for ~$900ea. The only other AKs I've seen are some Saigas (already own one in .223) and some Romanian WASRs. A few years ago I almost purchased a NIB Arsenal SA-M7 (milled receiver) for $700 at my local shop in Utah. Now I'm kicking myself because, correct me if I'm wrong, they don't make them any more, and prices on all AKs have skyrocketed. 1. Am I crazy to even consider paying $900+ for a stamped
  3. In my opinion the 7.62x39 is a poor choice for elk. It doesn't have enough energy for ethical shots over 50 yards, it has a poor trajectory past 100 yards, and there aren't many good choices for hunting bullets loaded in commercial 7.62x39 ammo. You wont get enough expansion, or you wont get enough penetration. Either way, most x39 bullets will leave you with a wounded elk and you having to track the animal. The 7.62x39 round developed to kill humans, NOT big game animals weighing 400-800 lbs. I would consider .308 Win with VERY good premium ammo and excellent shot placement to be a
  4. Yes, compared to a target rifle or a good AR Saigas they have horrible triggers. They're heavy, gritty, and some are prone to trigger slap. For a $275 rifle, however, I think the trigger (and every other part of the gun) is great. I love my Saiga, "bad" trigger and all.
  5. Price drop: $25 for 1, $45 for 2, $65 for 3, or $85 for all 4. I can upload or email pictures if you want.
  6. I'm selling 4 Saiga .223/ 5.56 10 round factory polymer mags. Only used a few times. Great condition. $25 ea. Cashier's check, or Money Order. No paypal. --Denali
  7. Is there any way to adjust the sights on a Saiga .223? Can anyone recommend replacement sights that are adjustable? I've seen a tool for sale for AK sight adjustments. Is this what I need, and how does it work? Thanks, Denali
  8. I also use 5.56 ammo (M855 British). I've never had any problems.
  9. Cabelas prices on a lot of things are terrible. I love the selection and customer service Cabelas has to offer, but if you're looking for a deal on just about anything, it's usually not the place to check first. Now, they do have sales every once in a while, but their regular prices suck donkey ****.
  10. I just ordered 6 of them from CDNN. $10 would have been nice, but you still can't beat good 35rd mags for $15.

    SHTF Ammo

Disclaimer: I'm bored at work... What I would carry depends a lot on what type of SHTF situation has occured, but here's what I have at my disposal: 6x 35rd Orlites for the Saiga .223, 10x 30 round mags for my RRA AR-15, 4x 12 rd mags for my XD-40, 4 14 rd mags for my CZ P-01 9mm, a 30rd bandoleer for my 7+1 Rem 870 HD 12ga, plus lots of hunting rifles, shotguns, and other handguns with a decent supply of ammo for everything. My basic plan is to drive my 4x4 Jeep to my cabin in the mountains via pre-planned back roads. I can get to these back roads in 15 minutes from my house, and
  12. Has anyone handled one of these? Are they built any better than the cheap sporter stock, or are they made of the same flimsy hollow plastic?
  13. The guys over on The High Road seem to think these are built from Romanian receivers? Is that true?
  14. I'd buy a copy after hearing some feedback from those who have watched it/ used it. A video could be awesome if done well, or it could be a waste of $. Do a good job and I'd be all over that like flies on _____.
