  1. I can't say, as I don't have the other one to compare it to. But with mine, it's on and off the gun all the time, and it holds zero. Every once in awhile you do need to retighten the cam screw. (30-40 mounts/dismounts)
  2. The only polishing I have done to my puck is the front face to remove Tapco machining marks, and make it a little easier to clean. But at most that was about .001 or less off the face. Don't touch the sides or bore, or you're going to loose gas pressure and possibly functionality.
  3. I have one of the UTG PRO side mounts. It was about $20 more than the non-US made version from UTG. The only UTG part I don't like is the green laser (~ $100). Thing can't take the recoil and keeps moving all over the place.
  4. You cut it in half to grill? Nope! Whole birds! (minus the guts, feet, head, and feathers)
  5. It probably got warped when I had it between wood blocks in the vise while beating on the pin. I should have had the plug in when I did that. Piston still moves fine. The first thread on the plug is a little flat, but the rest look fine. I always check both internal and external threads for crap and lube them before I install the plug, as those threads are pretty fine. There was nothing in them, and a crossthread would screw them all up. I should check my auto-plug and see if that hangs up. I just picked up 3 Federal bulk packs tonight, but won't be able to go test fire until this we
  6. Fresh grilled mallard and bbq sauce. Pluck and leave the skin on. Just watch out for the steel shot. Last time it never made it to the table! Mom and I chowed it right off the grill like a couple of cavemen.
  7. Raw oysters on the half shell with saltines and Tobasco. That is a meal! I'll go for that only with lemon and cocktail or horseradish sauce.
  8. We recycle ours all the time here! Sewage plant is on the Fox river and flows into Lake Winnebago where the water plant intake is!
  9. Some of the best jerky around here (NE WI) is Cedar Creek. That, and some Union Star cheese curds that are fresh from the vat. These are the favorites of all the touring shows across the nation. (Phantom, Les Miz, Warhorse, Wicked, Lion King, ect.)
  10. If I remember right, the pin is a taper pin. What ya bet they beat it in backwards and swaged the crap out of it! So far, beating on it has tightened up the gas plug threads so I need a screwdriver to install and remove the plug. I'm not going to risk any more damage to the gas block. I'll just have to live with Federal 3 dram bulk instead of Universal. Actually, the Federal is a few cents cheaper per bulk pack.
  11. Guess I never made "the same old mistake"! 46 and still single! (though a little bit of autism helps)
  12. Where I shoot is State owned land, and tannerite would not be welcome no matter how fun! The local's like using the area as a range/drinkin spot, but some don't pack their trash. So it's a somewhat target rich enviroment.
  13. I found I like mowing the tall grass at my shooting spot with target loads. 4' tall patch of nettles.....6" after 40 rnds. Also mow the trail shoulders and parking area. Also takes the kids spraypaint off the sandstone rock. I always leave with a bag of empties and wads if I can find them.
  14. I've had ringing since I was born! Dr. slipped with the forcepts and gave me a hemotoma on the right side. Nerve damage. Still have lows to about 500, and highs from 4K- 14K in my right ear, but everything in the speech range is gone. And I'm a pro FOH audio engineer. But after so many years, I'm now starting to miss things in my other ear.
  15. My speakers used to knock me sideways when they were at full tilt, they don't do it any more. So I'm probably immune to flashbangs! Huh? What? Say again?
  16. I've given up!!! The only way is to drill the MF out! May have warped the gas block during the pounding, as the plug is now threading hard! During reassembly, shot the detent to God knows where, and had to fabricate a new one out of 5/32" music wire. Just going to have to run Federal instead, and buy another S-12. Hopefully a new one will be able to get ported.
  17. I've tried it clamped in a vise.....NO GO! Drilling may be the only option.
  18. The reason I carry a few old lemon practice grenades with the bottoms plugged. Pull pin, toss pin behind you, and order all weapons on the ground! They shoot, they die as well! They can't even risk a taser or pepper shot as I might drop it. Yeah sure, it's a bluff, but are they going to take that chance?
  19. The detent pin almost pushed out. It only needed a light tap with the hammer. It's the #5 pin (bottom one) that ain't budging. Starting to think about drilling the SOB out and make a new pin with music wire! Although that's a little scarry so close to the bore.
  20. Mouse Milk and the vise didn't work!
  21. After having problems with the Winchester Universal, I'm going to start opening the ports one at a time. Drove the pin for the detent and cleaned all the chips out of the hole that was causing the detent to hang up. (also stoned the back of the detent as the chips tore it up a bit) Now my problem.......I've hammered and hammered, trashed my 1/16" pin punch, tried both sides, and that lower pin won't budge a micron! I'm going to try Mouse Milk penatrant to free it up. ANY OTHER IDEAS???
  22. Anyone else get the email? I don't think I have an account there, at least I can't remember having one. Anyhow, it's all the home addresses of all members of congress and heads of government by state. I'm thinking this is an attempt at entrapment/spying by DHS against gun owners. Already deleted!
