  1. Lively bunch on here, apparently couldn't get past the sarcasm. This was supposed to be the second photo. And yes I'm very pleased with the saiga20 and the cheap and readily available slugs. I had set my tolerance at 4" groups as that is openly acceptable for deer at 50yds. Had the same precision with the 12g.
  2. Without seeing it, but listening to his explanation. He moved material into the detention hole and the threaded portion of the gas block. He stated he has already fixed the detent hole, so assuming he didn't further bugger it up by cross threading the plug. He simply need to chase the plug threads with proper tap. 50$ tap I'm guessing tho. I still have interest in the availability of a standard gas block as I wanted a 040 but had to settle on a 030 to get the magwell, lrbho, and "special" top cover. But I don't even have the gun yet, so maybe it will grow on me?!
  3. To original post. Cheap ehh? Weld the "trigger" back on where they milled it off. Usual bolt up stuff, reuse everything. This was my first saiga, I have evolved much since then. But no shame in doing what you can with the skills and tools available. Hell, it came with a tapco non-converted adapter stock. I reused the pistol grip and buffer tube!
  4. My s20 was purchased as a soft shooting dear sniper, backup women/children home defense. So most of the time is will be shooting the heaviest hottest slug I can get.
  5. Man! Dude! I got this badass new spiky thing! Check this out Toby. GGGRRRrraaaa(whilst actually and aggressively leaning into the gun) BAMB BAMB BAMB BAMB BAMB bamb BAMB bamb. Dude that thing worked awesome! (Even though he didnt buy the muzzle nut and it rotated upside-down for half the shots) Yeah! something like that Jack?! Lol we'll I'll say this, you have a lot of character. Because you willing to tell the truth, regardless if it means you politely withdraw from the "my muzzle break sucks(the gun foreward) more than yours" and potentially lose a sale or two. Real men of substance are a d
  6. So to clarify, in your opinion, it's only a weight/leverage advantage. Therefore, a mass vs acceleration, not a function of redirecting gas pressure wave?
  7. This for my homies. Or whatever. And the nah-saying bs parrots. Top photo. I argued he didn't hit the target with second shot. So we walked up and sho-nuf. I said it was luck and shoot a third. We'll, that's the second photo. Third was my three shots @50. Show two shot groups as I adjusted the eotech. Fourth pic laces wide open the tumbling/ non spinning- might as we'll put a musket ball in it modern day if it ain't rifled you will have 4' groups at 10 yards talk. It a brenneke KO
  8. I have no intention of attempting to reuse any portion of the barrel past the bulge. But I don't want to destroy what could be good sbs barrel. Just threw the digital calipers on it. Barrel O.D. .880 bulge .931 I'm thinking very strongly about making a s12-s20 muzzle adapter out of the end of the barrel threads. While I have your attention, Jack do you think there would be any recoil reduction using a s12 break such as yours on a s20. Or would there be too much slip around shot column? P.s. It's pretty cool being able to chat with the movers and shakers in the saiga world on here! The rest of
  9. Jack I was only referring to forming the steel down enough to remove gas block. I sincerely believe a person could shoot the shit out of the barrel the way it is. I have welding and machining expirence. I love to do what to others seem impossible. I have excelled in my career for those skills/traits. I'm not sure if it's age, or wisdom, or the fact that I have been bit soo many times by neglecting some obvious repair, only to cost ten fold of the original issue, that I have no intention of shooting past the bulge. Parts breakages is always guiltless motivation for previously planned upgrades!
  10. Barrel is already removed from trunnion. But I'm in Iowa so no go on sbs. Thinking of monster brake, permed to choke adapter, permed to barrel! Lol. need to get 6 1/2" back.(but don't tell the ladies) Heard stories of using a large hype cutter with the cutting wheel removed and three rollers to shrink the barrel back down
  11. Went shooting several weeks ago, never really noticed anything out of the norm. Thinking back it did have several fte. Was going to finish the welds on the HK sights. I looked at the barrel and thought hmmmm that looks different. Was in total disbelief even after I looked down the barrel. Lol was in denial for several hours. When I finally accepted the fact, I realized how lucky I was. It's a testament to the strength of the Kalashnikov system. So any eyediers on replacement barrels. Removed the barrel this evening, but the gas block won't make it over the hump!
  12. Anyone seen this one before? I got an 11"barrel for sale! Lol soo..... About those replacement saiga 12 barrels?
  13. To better answer you question, that is usually helped by profiling the bottom of the bolt. It helps to load a mag on closed bolt, and to allow the bolt to slip across the next round in mag. This is all assuming you don't have interference with the bolt-feed lips, as that is a magazine issue.

Here's what I did. Tig welded under the tab, and build a taper into the bottom of dust cover retainer. Locks it down and self tightening. To hold the windage you have to smash the dust cover narrower, so it's a press fit on sides of receiver.
  15. I agree promag is a last ditch effort. Buuuut anyone else make a .410 drum? Mine fits like a dangly booger! It won't let go, but you expect it to any any moment.

    HK sights

I have always like the look of HK sights, finally bought the kit from CSS. As much as I love the villainous look it adds, the sight picture is less intuitive and more obstructed than I expected. It seems like the xs HK fixes these issues but at 120$ I would like some feedback from actual owners. Or is the krebs rear peep is a better option. If so what from sight do you use, will it work w dinzags? Also what kind of tig filler is best. Just regular Er70s (yes I searched threads back 3+ years, and 12ga is a diff setup as far as fsb so redirect/flog at will)
  17. Have you guys put this deal together yet?
  18. Lol mike, asking question is a sign of intelegence. I was referring to lazy people with unrealistic expectations, because there is no pharmaceutical "saiga" pill that fixes everthing. But that's what I love about this platform. It's challenging.
  19. Lemme ask you : how will you know the regulator is toning down the pressure sufficiently so as not to put undue stress on your gun ? Mike20 there are far more qualified persons than myself on this forum, but it seems to me that the ejection distance(insert old man/young man joke here*) is the best way to judge that. I like something like 5+ feet. Not 35' lol. You will feel secondary recoil. If over gassed. It feels like a 5-lb dead blow hammer on your shoulder. Once I got my gun running sweet on #8 bulk bird, the tac 47 plug solved all my issues on the heavy end. Set it and forget it!
  20. I'm new here so let me explain; I have mooched soo much useful info from this awesome forum that I now feel deeply obligated to give back. I hope to share my experiences, and discoveries. This was one of those. Cliff awesome product. I can't imagine a Saiga shotgun without one( I have an arsenal .410 and don't like it as much because I can't install a Auto-plug) tac47 will not make your girlfriend prettier, your boss give you a raise and finally appreciate you, or allow you find the kettle of golden 22lr at the bottom of the rainbow! And it won't profile your hammer/carrier/bolt/rails, or
  21. Just recently expanded the saiga line with the 20ga! So with the stellar results I had with my s12 and auto plug(AFTER the gun would run bulk wm/from the hip/with a drum/while chewing gum and walking) I am a lifetime believer in tac47. Soo, naturally I search the forums, find this thread and sweet auto plug fits 20ga. I call around, seem to be out of stock. Call tac47 to see if still in production, the said they have some ready to assy just waiting on the springs. Cool! So while I'm on the ph I confirm "these also fit the s20? Right" that gentleman wast sure so he asks(ph set down noise in bac
  22. I cheated, bought an arsenal. Got some mismatched furniture for 50$ and a swap meet. Bamb! As always profiled and polished necessary internals. I cannot stress enough how awesome the senor members are on this forum!
  23. Hello remember here. I've been lurking around the forms for a couple years now don't know what took this long to be a member. Probably just because I was missing out on all cobras awesome pictures. I cannot overstate how influential this form is been in helping people conquer the misunderstanding of the saiga line. These are bar none the most rewarding firearms to own shoot and personalize. Without this forms help and information I probably would've given up. But thanks to your guys help, now when I consider a new saiga to buy and I cycled action and it feels like there's broken glass inside t
