  1. arn't they both angled (gas blocks)? No the Saiga gas block has a 90 degree vertical gas port. The Romanian AK gas port is angled. They both use the same length gas tube and in order for it to fit both designs the gas ports in the barrels are in different locations. If you center the Romanian gas block on the Saiga's barrel gas port the gas tube will not fit.
  2. Oh your mount may not have those adjustments. Some more slamp info though. http://www.tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/pso/...adjustments.htm The screws on your mount might not be adjustable.
  3. This is how the Vepr mount solved the problem.I'm not sure how easy it is with your mount. http://www.robarm.com/vepr_mounts_and_optics.htm
  4. The Saiga/AK rail is not very precise. It's designed to be used with Soviet military scopes that have a wide range of adjustment. When using a standard sporting scope like the Tasco you need to adjust the screws on the Russian mount. Is it clamp on style with two sections held together with screws? Those screws are the wide adjustments for sporting scopes. Here are the clamp adjustments but not the screws. http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/clamp.aspx http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/Manuals/KOAKClampAdjustment.pdf
  5. No the Tapco trigger both single and double hook won't fit a standard Saiga.A pistol grip conversion is required for the single hook Tapco trigger and for the double hook trigger in addition to the pistol grip conversion either the bottom right of the trigger needs relieving by removing metal or the trigger hole in Saiga receiver needs to be cut for a double hook trigger but the pistol grip conversion is still required due to trigger placement.
  6. The Romanian bolt has smaller locking lugs. The Saiga uses longer AK74 style locking lugs. The Romanian gas block is the same diameter but is angled not vertical. This puts the gas port hole in the barrel in a slightly different position as the gas tubes are exactly the same length but the gas blocks are not.The Yugo barrel parts have larger barrel journal diameters.
  7. The Norinco 223 AK doesn't depend on the bullet guide. The bolt goes farther down than normal though. The magazines won't fit most other receivers at at because they are too long front to back. The early Poly Tech 223 AK's used standard magwells and bullet guides. These mags will fit most AK receivers. The earliest ones had defective magazine followers. The design was later changed. Then the design was later changed again to the Norinco design. The Poly Tech magazines are rrarer and worth more. They normally have chrome plated followers and the Norinco magazines do not.
  8. The dimples are centered on the right and left sides of the receiver just above the magazine. Not all Saiga's have them. They tend to help keep the longer 30 round magazines from wobbling side to side. They aren't required for any conversions.
  9. Ig you have a drill press it's really easy.Take a small drill bit,put upside down backwards in the drill press.Take the end of the bit, masking tape, etc.Place rifle in drill press and depress the sight spring with the drill bit using the drill press as a press.Either that or a narrow tool to press the spring by hand while installing new sight.
  10. Even the 308 Saiga's are only 1.0mm.The thinner receivers have the X and Y stamps around the FCG axis pin holes. The thicker 1.5mm receiver like the Vepr's usually don't have these stamps.
  11. Yeah I sort of figured the non dimpled receivers are most of the 223's and they usually have both holes.Well I'll see what my next one has.
  12. Does your receiver have the magwell dimples?I bought one with dimples no pistol grip hole.I'm picking up another this week.Same receiver but a 20 inch instead of a 16 inch.
  13. Most all Saiga's have the trigger hole.Almost none of the 7.62x39 Saiga's have the pistol grip hole. Many 223 Saiga's do have both holes. The conversion webpage you looked at has a 223 with the pistol grip hole. Also that webpage is a few years old now.One rivet that holds the trigger guard plate goes directly over the trigger hole. You will most likely have to drill and cut the almost square hole behind it for the pistol grip.
  14. I doubt you can afford the amount of ammo the military might fire in some small arms.I shoot enough ammo in some rifless to wear out the barrel enough to affect accuracy but the headspace almost always stays safe past that point.
  15. The sight adjustment tool uses the vise part to push the front sight left and right in the front sight block. The sight post should screw in and out for height.I haven't used one in a while.
