  1. Go here. http://ak-47.net/ak47/sightingin.php
  2. Most of the ranges I shoot, the safety officer knows that AKs doesn't have BHO. He tells people with AKs stick a white rags between the bolt and the chamber to indicate that is cleared. Personally, I don't like the BHO on the Saiga because is kinda in the way when I pull the trigger. If you're a lefty it wouldn't be a problem. Plus, without the BHO, is much easier to clean all the areas in the receiver.
  3. I guess depend on where you live and if you can do the conversion yourself or not. I just thought it was not a good deal where I live and I can do my own coversion. I bought my brand new S308 here (http://www.nicksguns.com/) in Merietta, Ga for $329 + 23.03 tax = $352.03 and they don't charge background check. I spent another $100 on the conversion, total up to $452. In your case you pay $300 for the rifle. Did you have to pay for shipping ($24)? how much was FFL transfer fee ($10)? replace the "bubba buttstock"? Add it up $300 + $24 + $10 = $334 + stock = ? About the handguard not
  4. If you look at the rifle closely, the rifle has "bubba" buttstock, the trigger guard is not properly bent, the handguard is not original. Looks like someone did a nasty conversion job. I live in Marietta, GA and I can buy a brand new S308 for $329 + tax = $350. I really don't think you got a deal out of it.
  5. That's cool looking, but $238? with extra $50 I would go buy a new 7.62x39 Saiga. Noth worth it IMO.
  6. Welcome to the foruum! You might want to test fire your newly S223 and get familiar with the rifle, such as, the action, take it apart and put it back together and familiarize with all parts. Go through the forum pictures and see all the fine converted S223 to give you an idea what you can do with yours. When you are ready to convert, it will be much eaiser for you.
  7. AR for $900...I bought my new DPMS AR15 complete lower at the gun show for $220 including tax and background check. I bought a complete Del-Ton upper AR15 on sale and shipped to my house for $415. Total $635. If you willing to shopping around to buy parts and put together yourself, you can put together an AR15 for <$600. Tell you the truth, I enjoyed shooting my converted 7.62 and .223 saigas most. ARs just too sensitive to ammo, where as, you can feed Saigas anything and it will eat it.....
  8. I shot corrosive ammo for years in my mil surplus firearms and in my saigas and never had any problem with rusting. The way I clean is to mix dish detergent and water together, then clean the rifle with it to neutralize the salt. After that I do a normal cleaning with my own mixed up Ed's Red. Corrosive ammo is not a bad thing, not cleaning your rifle as soon as you can is a bad thing.
  9. Hammering is not working for me. I helped my friend drift out the two pins, heat up the FSB pretty good, but is still won't rotate. I don't have a vise or special tool to make this easier. Anymore suggestion on how to get the FSB rotate with just a hammer and heating.....thanks.
  10. Is it normal to have a tiny wiggle in the piston? I mean very tiny....
  11. Tony, thanks. Just looked at the FSB and I think is going to take some hard hitting to get it to bend...
  12. Tony, looking at the FSB from the rear, do I hammer it to the right or left?
  13. One of my friends bought a used 20" S.223 at the gunshow and we all decide to head to the range for some tirgger time. Man! the FSB so canted that he had to push the pin all the way to the right and is still shooting 2" to the right. He also bend the front sight post 1/8" to the right and it shoots center. We don't have any experiece with fixing the canted FSB so here is my question. How to fix it: Mark the FSB so have reference point? Drift the 2 FSB pins out? Rotate the FSB left or right and how much? Redrill the 2 holes for the pins? Reinsert the 2 pins?
  14. Most of the time is with reloading brass. There is no telling how many time that brass has been reload. Try out Wolf, if is ok, then you know is the reload brass. If is doing the same thing with Wolf, then contact RAAC and they should take care the problem.
  15. If we need to replace the .223 and 7.62x39 bolt, where can we find it? or any AK bolt will do? Thanks.
  16. My Saiga is like that. It's like that from the factory.
  17. I contacted the rep at raac and he said that's an interesting idea. He will talk to the russian to see what they have to say.
  18. There's no available FCG to replace the unmodify Saiga. What you can do is buy the FCG like suggested here and cut the trigger off and replace the old FCG in your Saiga. I didn't do it myself but heard other in this forum did it and they said it improve the trigger pull dramatically.
  19. Thanks. I will do some more research like you said to see what is the cheapest way to go. Do you know if the POF and LW upper will drop in any standard AR lower?
  20. I think you're comparing two different caliber .223 and 7.62x39? Am I correct?
  21. I have a friend that wants to sell hi Bushmaster Gas Operated, Piston Driven M4 for $1200. Anyone have one? and how reliable are they? I'm saving up for either POF or LW, but I heard that the Bushmaster is pretty much the same as POF? either POF or LW will run around $1700-$1900, if the Bushmaster is as good as the POF or LW, I will save some big bucks.
  22. Man! you must have a lot of money laying around. May I ask the cost of the original rifle and how much you spent on mod already, including labor?
  23. OnPointSupply Classic Arms Stanleys
  24. I see what's he saying, I vented my Saiga handguards so the heat would go through those vents. What's the difference between this and those heat shield for standard AKs and the ones on AR-15?
  25. Sounds like you got everything cover. I like the way you order everything at one place to save shipping cost. Just make sure parts that are US made is "US Made".....
