  1. I have already done nearly a half dozen for other dealers waiting for the ban to sunset. They are faily straigh foreward once you have the parts. You just need todecide if you want screws or rivets to hold the trigger guard on. I am also going to sell my LEO version with the side folder and shorter barrel already done for about $600. She has less than 100rds thru it. If anyone is interested let me know.
  2. I looked again on the web, the the MGDB, and in the packet of info they sent me (including the latest "law" book) and cant find anything banning the ownership of the full auto parts, other than the DIAS, and registered sears for the H&K's of course. Nowhere does it say that the ownership of anything else, other than serialized conversion pieces is banned. I also cant find anything that specifically mentions the possession of ak F/A parts. Many dealers use that as their standard answer because it is easier than explaining the complicated laws and the way the ATF determines wat is and w
  3. It is not illegal to own full auto parts for the AK, or M4 for that matter. The only part that is restricted in any way under current law is the drop in auto sear for the M4 rifles. These are transfered the same way any other class three weapon is, thru the atf. I went back to my dealers packet, the C3 dealers buying guide, and the lit from the ATF when I applied for my 02/07 SOTs and can find nothing restricting the sale of full auto conversion parts. I also could not find anything restricting them on the ATF web sight. If you have gotten a policy letter from the ATF stating other wise could

I tried dealing with EAA thru email, VERY un-responsive. So I called them and finally got someone who SPEAKS ENGLISH! EAA does not sell directly to dealers or the public. They will only deal with distributers. Thats why they wont sell you any. Thats why they wont give straight answers.
  5. I have one and it can dump 12rds in less than 4 seconds with some practice on the trigger. With double ought buck, THAT' A STREET SWEEPER! And I have shot most loads available thru it without a jam. How is that junk? Can I ask 2 questions? Not that they matter but just out of curiousity.... How old are you (not that it matters in the least, everyone was young once, and now most are old )? And why is it so important to you that you have a weapon like this(not that need is a requirement, but again just curious. You seem to have a SERIOUS need for some serious firepower and I was jus
  6. Yeah, except for the heat issues. I would not mount any optics on the gas tube or barrel. But I would be happy to throw a length of rail on the receiver cover and mount it there. After the first few shots you could zero it, and even when you remounted the cover it would settle in very close to the natural point of rest. After a few shots it will be back on target.
  7. It is also illegal to hunt whales in Utah. You know the great salt lake is kown for it large pods of bule whales, so they must be protected.
  8. No, you cant. But only because they are not available. The point is that it is one of those stupid laws that is on the books. A civilian can buy one, but not detonate it.
  9. There is no transfer tax FFL to FFL (so that seller must be a private citizen). The one here is NIB, has a drum and 6 mag(I found it trying to get the mags away from him), and a couple of case of ammo. I dont know what the going rate for them is, but this guy is also a PP and must think it is worth alot more than it is.
  10. Here in Utah it is legal to buy an atomic weapon, but it is a felony however to detonate one with the state boundaries. I shit you not!
  11. I have seen them come out on individual pieces and rule them that way, but not a blanket ruling. Hell, they are the damned fools that wanted a thumbhole stock, now since things are not going their way they want to change it to include the thumbhole as a pistol grip TOO? Screw them. I will have my FFL until the ban runs out, I'll just stamp them all LEO/dealer samples and they can piss off.
  12. Just about any tactical school will tell you, YOU RELOAD FROM BEHIND COVER. Thats because people tend to stop and focus on the fine motor skills they need to do a reload, ANY RELOAD. It also gives you a chance to pick up anything that you may drop during the process.
  13. Ummm, they CANT reinstate it. They have to introduce an entirely new piece of legislation and have it pass thru to be signed. They cant just say "lets extend it" and have it be so.
  14. I can get you a registered USAS-12. They run about $5600 plus the taxes and other fees.
  15. Let me get in on this one too. As youknow, I am rather fond of this gun, but like any gun I would change a few things. To address SP's list: 1. The bolt's lack of hold-open device: if it is so hard to put a full mag in the gun when the bolt is closed, why oh why could they not make it so the magazine follower engaged a hold-open for the bolt automaticly when the mag runs dry? Mag changes would be a breeze. (I change my mags a certain way. I will detail my method in a different post.)Yeah, no shit. Mag changes with the bolt closed make rough prison sex look like a pleasant experience (
  16. The strangest thing seems to be happening to me with this whole mag deal. I have talked to K-USA, and AK-USA directly and at length about this, and EAA via email and nobody can seem to tell me what the ACTUAL law regarding this is. I keep getting the ATF says so, but they have not said so in writing..... Chris and I spoke about it and he made the most sense in the intent of the law arguement. But intent and actual wording is not the same thing in most courtrooms. The only exception being that of the ones ATF can control. EAA is saying they cant even sell to me as a dealer! WTF???? I can be tru
  17. Well, this is what they consider to be parts that qualify for the US parts count: 1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings- Maybe you could convert one to work with this gun. (2) Barrels- Haven't seen any that would work so far....... (3) Barrel extensions- Haven't seen any that would work so far....... (4) Mounting blocks (trunions)- Haven't seen any that would work so far....... (5) Muzzle attachments-shouldn't be hard to convert and existing one to work.... (6) Bolts- Haven't seen any that would work so far....... (7) Bolt carriers- Haven't seen any that woul
  18. Well, if you have the 19" defense model, I will buy it from you. I just ordered a half-dozen of them and can find room for one more.
  19. What parts did you find? I have found all of the fire control parts, the stock and pistol grip. But they have yet to make bolts or pistons, and fore arms. So I have yet to be able to find enough parts to do the complete conversion (and you still must weigh the consequences on the entire gun community and YOUR pocket book when those conversions become common). You can do the stock conversion to the thumbhole. I did mine in about an hour. It really is pretty simple.
  20. Special Occupational Taxpayer (class 3 dealer in machineguns, short barreled weapons, and suppressors)
  21. Drums over 10 rounds would NOT be legal for any configuration of this gun, unless you were an LEO and had a letterhead to purchase one. It would be making a high capacity feeding device (it holds more than 10 rounds) and would not be legal for anyone other than a dealer to possess as a demo, or an LEO to possess in the execution of his duties. Further the ATF has ruled that in converting a drum from a weapon like a USAS-12 for the Saiga would be considered to be making a drum for a new weapon, and the above statement applies.
  22. Well, the problem is finding them. As far as I can tell, they were only brought in in small numbers. I am trying to find a reliable source for them right now. jackhammer, I have been down the importation road with the Russians before. They can be difficult to deal with to say the least. Throw in OUR customs and ATF guys and it is really a recipe for disaster. There are a few reasons why I am not in the import business anymore. Reliability, promptness of shipping, total lack of profit once the duties and storage fees are apid. Screw that. Let someone else who has been doing it a lot longer
  23. One more time. This is what the law says: From: http://www.gunnerynetwork.com/assault_weap...-ban-facts.html The law defines firearms as "assault weapons" by one or both of two methods: name and description. [18 U.S.C. 921(a)(30)]. All told, the law affects more than 175 semi-automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns and revolving cylinder shotguns a cross-section of firearms of various sizes, shapes, and calibers/gauges. Under the law, the term "semiautomatic assault weapon" means: any of the firearms, or copies or duplicates of the firearms in any caliber, known as: Norinco, Mitchel
