  1. Here's a few pics of the 6 Bulg. ( new ) barrels from Copes after I chopped and re- profiled them to Krink specs. I had to Knurl one of them as the Tula trunnion it was for was about .003 too big for the barrel . Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Next up are 2 E.German Virgin barrels and a Virgin Bulg. .223 barrel . Cheers.................
  2. Nope, nothin new on the twist rate . Have'nt split the barrel piece yet. As I stated in the last post , that was just a mockup to see if everything was in the right location and they were. Shortly after the pics, I stripped it back down to use as a pattern , (or gage) for the other 6 which I will finish tomorrow and ship to the owner. More pics soon.
  3. Finished the mockup today with the Bulgy 74 barrel from Copes. Everything turned out to be in the right location and you can see what you are left with. An empty RSB groove, and the original barrel pin groove which will in most cases require an oversized pin. Will post some more pics when the other 6 barrels are finished. 4. Here's an update from today.................... Started on the Bulgy 74 barrels today and these 6 will be Krink length. Got the first one done and am going to do a mockup with my parts kit to make sure everything is in the right location before doing the others. So, here's some pics of todays progress: The barrels as sawed to 8.5 Uploaded with ImageShack.us barrel rough turned in the lathe Uploaded with ImageShack.us Stock Bulgy 74 barrel on top Sawed to 8.5 Lathe work finished Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack
  5. Thanks NinerRider, I will get some pics over the weekend of the Bulgy 74 barrels cut and contoured to Krink dimensions and post them. I'm also going to cut one of the barrel pieces that I cut off the Bulgys in half lengthways which will reveal the inside of the barrels twist rate. Only problem is that they are only about 7 1/2- 7 3/4 long as I cut the Bulgys 8 1/2 to allow for a finished recrowned 8 5/16 length, so not sure if I'll be able to get a full turn. We'll see..............
  6. Loner42, Have you cut down any krink barrels yet? I am interested in how accuracy is affected with the 8" barrel and 1:8 twist ratio. Rguns may take a while to get these barrels so I would be interested in other options. I have seen E.German virgin barrels for about $100. lately so this would be a cheap way to go. Thanks No not yet, but I'm gettin ready to go out and start choppin 6 Bulgy 74 pulled barrels that are like new for a member on THE AK FILES. I'd still like to see where all this twist rate info is coming from. I'm an active member on the AKForum and have'nt seen any t
  7. Could you post a link or copy & paste where you got this info ? Thanks.................
  8. Im doing E.German and Bulgy barrel modifying for those who are considering using them. http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68338
  9. Does anyone know what the outside Chamber Diameter is on the Saiga 7.62x39, and .223 barrels ? Thanks................................
  10. Yeah - that's what I'm talking about! I find it interesting that out of three different Galil top covers that were posted, all three have different types of sights. LEO - what did you do for a front sight? I noticed both of you had the left side safety mod - what parts did you use for that (modified stock Galil, or total custom)? I think no matter how much trouble you guys went through to make these - they are the most practicle for real world use with the Galil LH safety, and should shoulder and point as well as a Galil. Very Nice! If you couldn't figure out - I am a big Galil/Valmet f
  11. Me likey.........................so did you try a comparison between the two as far as muzzle flip and felt recoil ???
  12. Damn, did'nt know i was gonna create so much entertainment...................
  13. Lookin to buy outright or trade guns or kits for a Norinco Hunter Type 1. Please email if interested. Thanks................................
  14. Just saw this on AKFiles : http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=42804 Did'nt want to flame his sale but will be interestin to see if some poor fool bites...................
  15. You do not need an FFL to ship. Just make sure that whoever wants to buy them uses an FFL on their end that will accept from an individual (you). It's all perfectly legal .You'd have to use an FFL if you were shipping a handgun, but not for long guns.
  16. I cut the sleeve off my 7.62x39 and then threaded it 14-1LH. I got the tools from dinzagarms.com. IIRC he rents them for ~$20. +1 On that. 223addict, This is the best way to go in your situation. Do NOT try threading it until you get that extension cut off. You will ssrew up your barrel, guaranteed. My 02 centavos
  17. RDSWriter, was wondering if you could tell me how you made the chart : I posted a list of ref. dim. for AK Barrels and components above in this forum and would really like to have been able to make it like your chart is done. Thanks
  18. Thanks, it just bugs me that i can't keep them straight up and down like i had them in Word. I even printed them out and the stayed nice and straight. It must have something to do with margins or something. I'm still a "hunt and peck" typer, so it takes me awhile sometimes to do something like this. Maybe someone who knows how will volunteer to fix it someday.
  19. Hang onto the cut off tang and if you want to go back to a fixed wood or synthetic you could have some one tig weld it back on, if you can't do it.
  20. I put one in my S-223 and it's by far the best FCG you can put in an AK...............Well worth the cost if you want a fine trigger pull that breaks clean.
