  1. Good point. That's probably the ONLY semi-bullpup shotun that actually got made, used, and altogether worked (Pancor Jackhammer and H&K CAWS never more than vaporware).
  2. Yep...that's the general idea. The toughest part about AK bullpups is having a positive safety and keeping that charging handle out of your face if you ever have to fire from the left.
  3. Repetitive question: The Saiga and SAR trunions are AK-74 trunions are not wide enough to accomodate the M-16 mag. But I think Arsenal's .223 AK built for Bulgy mags is AK-47 based. Anyone know if its trunion will accomodate M-16 mags?
  4. I sold it to him. I'm out, but you can find'em on Gunbroker. Side question: The Saiga and SAR trunions are AK-74 trunions are not wide enough to accomodate the M-16 mag. But I think Arsenal's .223 AK built for Bulgy mags is AK-47 based. Anyone know if its trunion will accomodate M-16 mags?
  5. If you're not busy this weekend, I'd like to talk handguard designs with you. I have an idea of what I want, just not sure it will fly.
  6. That would be the best. It should be fairly easy to come up with a monolithic AK receiver/rail system. Might make the whole thing accurate and compete (At least stylistically) with the LMT MRP AR-15. Actually...I would have thought Krebs would do that for the KTR series, but he went with a standard KCI rail instead.
  7. Is there some mechanical difficulty in making AK-style lowers? P.S. Thunderbear: You never know what kind of folks are out on that thar Intarnet, or what kind of childhood they had. Mine was mostly owned by LucasArts....back when they were actually creative.
  8. I think what he means by a plastic handguard is that he wants a real "AK looking" handguard like a lot of people. This requires extensive modification to an AK handguard and especially the retainer flanges, but there have been a few guys who have done it which you can see if you look around here. The problem with the ebay one is that it is just a sporter handguard with something stuck on it. Very gay. In all fairness, a single molded piece is a LOT stronger than a sporter handguard with something stuck on it. Also, the fact that the rail is aligned horizontally also m
  9. PvtPyle, is there any legal reason why a Class II/III SOT couldn't own one? ...after all, anyone who isn't military is a civilian.
  10. Sledgehammer was awesome!!! But they CAN'T bring it back. If they bring it back, it will be the first TV show I watched as a kid that has been "brought back", and THAT will mean I'm OLD!
  11. Yah....the AA12 is great...except for the 3K price tag and the super-limited availability.
  12. It's in Title 27 CFR Section 478.39 An important distinction: The law DENYS us guns with non-sporting features that are made from 10 or more imported parts. It doesn't ALLOW guns that have less than 10 foreign parts to have non-sporting features. It doesn't mention or apply to domestic firearms, that is, firearms made with less than 10 foreign parts.
  13. Oh we have GOT to get some of those. Like....NOW. Does anyone know anyone in France?!!!!! Did you see the fragmentation of that retrieved slug into several .40 inch CHUNKS?
  14. BAR mags!!!! Well...we can dream. I'm kind of waiting for someone to buy one and review it before I spring. But I really want one. I'm also interested to know if the .308 and .3006 are built on the same receiver. Seems like they are and the barrel is the only thing different.
  15. My understanding is that RAA will be recalling and making the guns compliant...isn't that so?
  16. Totally, off topic: While the Jin-Roh avatar, and the GC sig are cool, they pale in comparison to Thunderbear's Sam&Max avatar (if, that is indeed who that is...!) Also, maybe some types of wood stocks would be "rare" enough to justify making them on a custom basis? Like RPK and Galil types?
  17. Folks will tell you that about one in ten saboted slugs fail to lose their sabot. My experience is more like one in 20. Either way, not nominal for combat use. What about with a rifled choke?
  18. Um....please forgive me if I'm mistaken, but if you weren't raised in America, you might not know that Batman is a very OLD superhero from American comic books. The stock appears to be simliar to his peculiar aesthetics.
  19. Pm me. I'll pm you my email address in a bit.
  20. For me, it will depend on how I like the sights, or whether the upper plane can be removed. But it's the only game in town for a true rail system on the S12. So I may ignore my sight preferences this once. It's definitely worth the price in the sense that the price accurately reflects the cost and market forces.
  21. The answers pretty simple. Look at the slant angle cut into the back of the Bulgy. It's near 90 degrees to the bottom of the receiver, if not more. But one of the idiosyncracies of the Saiga line is that the back of the receiver is LESS than 90 degrees to the bottom. Only slightly more so than many AKs, so it's not often a problem with many AK stocks. But in this case, I think you may want to adjust the engagement angle on the stock, or mill the back of the S12 in order to get a better fit/look. That is, if you care. I think it's possible the angle may interfere with shooting.
  22. I felt I should point out a big difference between the ATF not finding these shipments, and cops not catching drunk drivers. Drunk drivers are inherently more dangerous than sober ones. We made up the laws because people were dying all over the roads and we needed to keep that from happening. 17.2" barrel shotguns are not inherently more dangers than 18" barrel shotguns. We made up the law because someone got a bug up his ass in Congress, and most of America was either too hillbilly dumb to stop it, or busy dealing with other things (depression, war, communists). The federal gov't a
  23. Um...most Surefire lights (about ALL of the handheld ones) aren't shock-isolated, or meant to be weapon-mounted. Maybe that had something to do with your problem? Oh yeah, the Z-5 will fit on a weaver rail. It is actually made for the Picatinny rail. DOn't know about the tailcap thing...
  24. Hey BRG3, did you still need an S-12 for woodworking/modeling/photgraphing purposes? I'm not using mine much at the moment, and I live in Pittsburgh now.
