  1. I agree, close is just fine. I freehanded mine and it's fine.
  2. I really like the 2 rounder I got... Dodgeturbointerceptor is right, A lot of times a trade-out is the better option.
  3. Call Elk River (Global Trades). The only thing to look out for is the size of the notch. I know that the notches in the Polish and Romanian stops are too big and there will not be enough material when you cut it. The Virgin Bulgarian ones work just right.
  4. he pistol grip reinforcement plate is just that, a plate to reinforce the receiver. The pistol grip plate is available from many vendors, I got mine from Tantal (best in the business). Many folding stock AK's come with the grip plate from the factory. It's just a good idea. I'm really not sure about the differences between the 74 and 47 trigger guard. Yes I cut the selector stop down. See the tutorial: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=22906
  5. Yes, I went with the double hook Trigger. I installed one in both of the AK's and wanted to do the same for the S-12. The rest of the build picts can be seen here: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=21197
  6. A selector Stop is a metal plate that goes between the receiver and the trigger guard (Towards the Front). It has a little nub that extends out and curves up on the right hand side of the receiver. It limits the downward travel of the selector. See Picts: Test Fit of Trigger Guard, Selector Stop & Selector Bolts replaced with Rivets.
  7. I would go with K-Var Bulgarian AK-74 Guard and a Virgin Bulgarian Selector Stop from Elk River (Global Trades). If you call K-Var and ask them they will ship the part US mail for $2.00 which is a lot better that $11. I was thinking about making 10 sets already modified for S-12 conversions. I would have to have 10 interested parties before I would start. I may post something in the For Sale forum...
  8. At the moment the cheapest option is to get a few followers from AGP (4 for $22 shipped). I think this is the way I'll have to go since I do not want to alter the appearance or the Russian furniture. Has anyone else done this? (Use AGP Mag followers in their factory Saiga 12 Mags?)
  9. I have been looking high and low for an original Ihzmash tactical Pistol grip. Low and behold they now have them on rusmilitary.com So seizing the opportunity, I ordered one and it arrived today. Now here's my issue... Since I am currently using a K-Var Grip, When I Replace it I would be 1 short on compliance parts. (Not Good) What other options are out there as far as compliance parts. Currently I have: K-Var Pistol Grip Tromix gas Piston Tapco FCG (3 Parts) The Buttstock and Flash Hider are Russian and I'd like to keep it that way if possible. I am not rea
  10. Thanks for all of the replies. I really like this gun. Several of us from my office are going to go to the range again this weekend. Between the 3 of us there will be the CZ P01 9mm, a Glock 23 .40 and a new Baby Eagle .40 - can't wait till Saturday. In the meantime I got my Bianchi M100 IWB Holster today. Model 19234 Size 11 For the P01 not to be listed on the package, it fits the gun like a glove. Also no too bulky to wear. The leather and workmanship looks top notch. I'll have to see how it holds up. I also ordered a set of the Half checker Coco Grips from Ghost Products
  11. Yes, I'd like to see a link on that... It would be a great option especially if it had the 2 rivets up front configuration and it looks stock. It really is not the "Hard Way" the whole process takes about 30 minutes. If you are already deep into converting a S-12, 30 extra minutes is nothing to have a factory feel and look. In my opinion, this mod is a cake walk compared to getting the BHO spring back in place. Look forward to the link.
  12. I haven't finished it yet. I have been saving my pennies to get it Parkerized over at Elk River. Then I will give it a coat of Molly Resin (Flat Black). I also want to send the carrier, BHO switch and the Folder locking pin to Elite custom Plating to have these items Hard Chromed (Brushed style). Then it will be finished.
  13. Type of Muzzle Break: Russian Izhmash Flash Hider Overall length: 2-19/32" (66mm) Inside Diameter: 3/4" (19mm) Outside Diameter: 1-1/32" (26mm) Length of Internal Threading: Now comes the interesting part.... The threads are 3/8" long then there is about 1/8" of recessed area the a ring then another recessed area that goes another 1/8" then the ID ID of 19mm. - Sorry I do not have the proper calipers to get the ID of all of the internal stuff. Hope this helps a little sKott
  14. I had a couple of people ask about how I modified the Trigger Guard and Selector Stop on My 12 C/K conversion. I recently made a set for dodgeturbointerceptor and kept a better photo log and thought I would post it here as a guide for anyone else. First off you need to obtain the correct parts. For the selector stop get a Virgin Bulgarian Selector from Elk River ($10.99) It is flat with no milling marks and the middle is thicker than say a Polish or Romanian one. As for the Trigger Guard I would use an AK 74 Virgin Assembly, also Bulgarian, from K-Var ($10.99) I compared the Bulg
  15. That would work fine, just trying to get a feel on the rough dimensions of them. Also, who makes that particular flash suppressor? That's a Factory Izhmash Flash Hider. I'll send you the measurements tonight.
  16. I have one like this at the house. Let me know if that's the type you need the measurements on.
  17. I have a small H&R 732 .32 Revolver.... Old School but It's a nice gun.
  18. Thanks for the replies. I went to the range today to give the P01 a "Test Drive". Again this is my first pistol and first time at the pistol range. Ammo was 115 grain Monarch (Russian Manufacture - Green Box) purchased at Academy $7.75/50. The Range I used was Carter's Country near Humble, TX. Range Distance was 15ft. I normally wear eyeglasses (nearsighted) but left them at the office on Friday. This was the results: Most ended up in the center. A few wild shots (mostly fast follow-up shots) All 50 of them hit the target or went through the big hole. All in all I am very pleased
  19. Just picked up my late Christmas present today. CZ 75 P01 9mm w/ night sights and 2 14 round magazines. Nice finish and a great feel. If you are in the market I would suggest looking at one of these. I plan on taking it to a range this weekend and give it a test run. Will have a Range report...
  20. Looks like this: tantal/Doug Ford Has them.
  21. Here's a pict of a factory folder using a factory latch Little over 1/8" would be safe...
  22. Tantal has the correct Tan Russina slings with the leather tabs.
  23. Tony, Since you already have the basic shape, how difficult would it be to make replacement US Floor plates for Factory Magazines?
  24. This it it minus the c-clip retainer
  25. I used a: 4mm (5/32") to drill the 3rd rivet hole, the retaining latch pin hole, the spot weld holes for the Grip plate, and the trigger guard holes. a 10mm to drill the locking pin hole and then came back with an 11mm to make it the correct size. Hope this helps.
