  1. I wouldnt mind one of those Ak103s. Even with the transfer tax I would gladly pay 900 bucks for a select fire one.
  2. I wasnt angry at assassin, but he is pretending like they can own real guns in the UK without crippling them. If he owns "an AK with the gas system disabled" then he should have said as much to avoid confusion. I apologize for not being well informed as to how the british "gun enthusiast" scene works. I think that calling a non-automatic AK an AK is a stretch of the truth. Calling an AK with a welded gas cylinder an AK just seems wrong to me. Of course this isnt assassins fault since he would obviously rather have a select-fire gun if the law permitted him to. I am just as annoyed
  3. EAA beleives the firearm itself would become unsporting if it could be purchased with 8 round mags. I think this is retarded, but they are just being prudent. The guns are selling well right now and people are doing conversions with no problems so why change what isnt broken?
  4. My point was that unless he converted it to bolt action or something, he couldnt own that Ak, and unless he somehow got saiga to make a model with an extra long barrel, there is no way the saiga is legal either. Im not so much calling him a liar as eager to find out how he has managed to own guns which are forbidden to civilians in the UK. You can technically get these arms, but you need a signoff from some secretary of the interior or something. It struck me as being kind of like getting a concealed carry permit in LA. Sure, if youre stephen speilberg, no problem, but not for the a
  5. what you say? omg 2 handguns > taser Couldnt retreive the grenade bit, but I know it was this story. It just fricken happened.
  6. I am attempting to contact Izhmash to see where they can and cannot send magazines. If they have some sort of sole-distributorship deal with EAA in the US, I can get them sent through contacts in the UK or the Ukraine. If the price is reasonable, I might buy a ton and set up a website reselling them. When you order, I would ask each user to specify the modifications they have done to their firearm to prevent people from buying the magazines that arent under parts limit. Capitalism at work. Yay capitalism.
  7. No, but swapping the imported 5 rounder for the imported 8 rounder creates, in the view of some people, an unsporting firearm. Since a stock saiga still has more than 10 imported parts it would be an "imported non-sporting firearm" ala 1989 import ban. A converted saiga isnt "imported" anymore so magazine size is no longer affected.
  8. None, but to affix these imported magazines to non-modified saigas would create a "non sporting firearm" with greater than 10 non-US parts, a likely violation of federal law. This is why EAA doesnt do it. Like Thompson center was accused of selling "short barrel rifles" for selling a kit which contained both rifle stocks and pistol barrels, EAA is concerned that ATF could accuse them of importing non-sporting shotguns and ban them. If the only possible configuration of saiga you can buy from EAA is a "sporting" version, they are in the clear and can continue to earn money selling them. Th
  9. They can own deactivated guns (welded like a DEWAT I assume) and posesses inactive ammo (oil instead of gunpowder). Of course, since none of her majesties subjects posess ammunition or weapons, there is no restriction on magazines. Lol black market. London muggers are pretty well armed. Apparently an individual recently had a fight with like a dozen bobbies who unsuccessfully tried to tazer him. He was armed with 2 handguns and some grenades. Even in the US muggers dont tend to have nades. I wouldnt mind some myself if they are that easy to get, tho I imagine that most rangermasters
  10. I found some reasonable priced winchester 3 inch magnums loaded with "#1 steel shot" would this be #1 bird or #1 buck? Does all buck ammo contain the words "buckshot" on it? winchester #1 steel Which would be about 30 bucks per 100 rounds. what does the shot number mean, genearlly speaking? Would #2 buck be the same size as #2 bird? What does a BB round count as for shotnumber? I I knew all this stuff in HS but that was ages ago.
  11. I'm not terribly worried about riots in spring hill, but always better to have a gun and not need it than need it and not have one. The time to go gun shopping is not when the riot has already started.
  12. I doubt it, unless you shoot with the 2 setting on the gas cylinder. I would still get a recoil buffer tho, just to be sure.
  13. Since my recoil pad just arrived and my FCG and pistol grip are on the way, this clearly opens the way for larger mags. Any idea where I can actually get some 8 rounders? I am getting a little frustrated. I searched most of the web and this forum for mags and the only thing I found was that site in the UK that sells them but they are very touch and go about selling them to US residents. Also, they recently jacked up their prices to like 60 bucks each which I feel is about double what it should be. sucks -jim
  14. Wow, I had no idea so much excitement was so nearby. I just moved from palm harbor to spring hill and Ive been to st pete a lot of times for automotive type stuff and I had no idea there had been a riot there. Why is the black community in St Pete so easy inflame? I am not a sociologist or anything but I am curious about the dynamics of riot formation I guess.
  15. Dont send the fucking letter! The ATF taking no action is infinitely superiour to the ATF possibly takling action. What possible benefit can ATF action have for us? Legitimizing our already legal shotguns? Last time I checked, the police werent arresting people at the local range for having saigas, regardless of configuration. Let sleeping dogs lie.
  16. Awesome. I have said the same thing myself many times.
  17. Whatever happened to repealing the "sporting purposes" test? Or is it just not possible to get that through the senate?
  18. Bean bag loads maybe? A bunch of the non-lethal loads produce very light recoil because they are trying not to apply lethal force I presume. Why you would shoot a gun at someone if you dont intend to at least maim them a bit I dont know.

    parts count

Excellent post, best explanation yet of the US parts count issue. My FAL style PG and G2 single hook are on the way as we speak. I wish we werent limited to 18 inches for barrel on the saiga. I would love a 15 inch barrel, if only for aesthetic reasons.
  20. What is a shepard hook? Do you mean the spring in the trigger, or something else perhaps?
  21. Any of the CZ-75 variants is generally going to be a cheap, reliable and accurate gun. Actually, make that any Browning Hi-Power variant, which is what the CZ 75 is. Ive got a 40 cal IMI Jericho and it is a nice gun. I find it has great ergonomics, maybe 90 percent as good as a 2x more expensive sig. Get a gunsmith to polish the feed ramp if you plan on being sloppy about cleaning. They are fairly tight guns- not bad like a beetta, but definitely not wiggly like a glock or hk. I would personally go with 40 or 45 for a self defense round. 45 if you have to use ball ammo for whatever reason
  22. I want to make this a parts finding and buying thread. Guys who have done the conversion already, please post here with links to things l like pistol grips, stocks and fire control groups. Links to buy stuff of obvious interest to saiga 12 owners like larger than stock capacity mags and the like are welcme as well but I primarily want to make this a conversion parts thread. Also, if a part you are posting needs to be modified to work in our guns (like a trigger group with a disconnector that needs to be dremeled, please specify this and provide pics or a descrition. The instruct
  23. Arent shotguns against the hague convention since they cause too much maiming and are of too large a caliber? Then again the US might only be a party to geneva and not hague (possibly I think) which raises the question of why we dont use hollow points in the 9mm sidearm. More on topic, isnt that a saiga mag? I think a good automatic shotgun would be a great infantry tool, especially for city fighting. A USAS 12 with a 30 rd drum would have a lot of parts commonality with the M16 and it would be devastatingly effective.
  24. What will this caucus be doing? Most of the 2nd ammendment news coming out of the federal government is bad, historically speaking.
