  1. OK good. All of this is good to know. I think I might just order the skeleton stock. Thanks everyone.
  2. Thanks for the reply. Also, is it shorter than the standard stock? I'm asking because according to this post, the standard Saiga stock doesn't give proper eye relief to use POSP scopes because it's too long. I want to be able to keep my options open if possible when looking for scopes, or rule them out if need be so I don't waste money on something that won't work right.
  3. I'm not planning on converting my Saiga, but I was thinking about changing the factory stock with something a bit sturdier, because it just seems a bit hollow and flimsy for my tastes. It almost seems like it came off of a toy gun. Is the Russian Saiga skeleton stock pictured below very solid and sturdy feeling? I also like the looks of it, plus I like the idea of an adjustable cheek piece when I get a scope for it.
  4. Have you installed the Dinzag FCG yet? If so, how does it compare to the original?
  5. Never mind, I think I got my answer here. Although now I'm not sure if that butt stock is American made, which if it isn't, I can't use American 30 rounder mags without replacing another part. Which isn't a big issue for me right now, since all I really wanted was a sturdier stock than the factory sporter style one that came with it.
  6. I have a question. Is this style butt stock considered a "pistol grip" per 922r? If not, can you still use the factory russian mags with it as well as American made 30 rounders if nothing else is changed on the rifle? My thinking is that with the new butt stock + American 30 round mag = 14 - 1 - 3 = 10 foreign parts = OK. But if it also isn't considered a pistol grip, then keeping the factory 10 rounder Russian mags shouldn't be a problem either, correct? Anyone have an answer to this question?
  7. From one of the links posted in the post by ASSASSIN above:

  9. If I understand it correctly, it doesn't matter if it counts as an extra part or not if it is American made (and the high cap mag and buttstock are as well). If you now have 15 parts, but the mag counts as 3, the pistol grip as 1, and the buttstock as 1, it's still 15-3-1-1=10. Do I have this correct? Also, you can no longer use the original Saiga mags with the pistol grip now, unless you change 3 more parts, right?
  10. Not likely. I've already bought 5 guns within the past year. I don't think I can justify another of the same kind to the wife anytime soon.
  11. I kind of like the way mine looks as is. I bought it as an inexpensive but reliable and rugged varmint/plinking rifle, and don't really need hi cap mags either, so I see no reason to convert mine. I plan on using that money to buy ammo. Am I the only one who has no plans (at least yet) to convert their Saiga? I feel lonely.
  12. Alas, didn't see or even hear any coyotes this weekend. Saw plenty of deer, but they're out of season, plus can't hunt deer with a rifle here anyway.
  13. It also comes in handy when you want to run a quick boresnake through it without having to hold the bolt open or take the action apart.
