  1. In person or online? Cool thanks for the info.
  2. Is anywhere selling the build-your-own kits?
  3. I'm itching to refinish my converted Saigas (12 and x39) but I really think I'll wait until it warms up. I'm leaning towards Cerakote or the Brownells alumahyde II.
  4. Yeah exactly. That is very unusual to have that level of detail. Usually it's just "firearm" or "handgun"
  5. I used the Alumahyde 2 on my s-12.. I think it was the Stainless Steel color, and used Alumahyde Matte Topcoat. I don't really think it is much different than high temp engine enamel. It does just fine for my purposes, and when it gets too beat up, I'll just detail strip it and paint it again.. no big deal. I didn't really want to spend $30 or $40 or more on a coating I wasn't sure about.. and Alumahyde is like $8 a can, so I figured I'd try it. It's actually a little lighter than I wanted. I think Snow Grey Duracoat was the exact color I wanted. I think it's pretty durable, and it takes a
  6. Has anyone tried the Brownells Alumahyde 2? The cerakote seems great but I don't have a spray gun atm. It might be worth getting one if it's that much better though. Does anyone know how many guns the cerakote kit from Brownells will cover? I have a S12 and an Saiga x39 I'd like to refinish, probably the receiver, cover, and barrel/gas tube in dark earth while keeping the furniture black.
  7. Wow, that's $500k in sales in less than a week. I assume since their BHO works off the follower, and not the ammo, you have to manuall release the bolt after you insert another mag? The email I got from them says that removing the mag releases the bolt.IMO,that is completely useless. The advantage of having LRBHO in one of these guns is for easy mag changes on an open bolt. Why would I want the bolt locked open only to close when I remove the mag? It would be better to be able to remove the mag on an open bolt, insert new mag on an open bolt then release the bolt yourself. Y
  8. I had this happen about 3 times in 70-80 rounds - this was the first time shooting the gun, factory plug, and a conservative bolt polish. I've since gently smoothed out the small recessed tab that contacts the extractor but I haven't shot since. This was the only failure I experienced, and all 3 were stovepipes. I should add that this is a 3 port gun.
  9. I enjoyed it. Will watch again for sure. Like others have said, that shop is like an operating room on a cleanliness level.
  10. Is this the one where you dull off the sharp edge of that little recessed tab?
  11. I shot mine for the first time the other day. Before shooting I did a conservative bolt polish. I had 3 FTEs, all on the last round in the mag, and all were stovepipes. This was with Federal low brass 7.5 and 8. Shot about 70-80 rounds total.
  12. How does mounting a light on a longarm hamper aiming? Would anyone mount a light on the top rail (ie in the sight window)? Lots of people hunt hogs with lights. It's legal in certain states.
  13. They were pretty common until last Friday.
  14. I bought one the other day. Should have bought 2 or 3 since they were only $80.00.
  15. Not bad. They are hard to find now.
  16. I don't think ANY Saigas are being built right now (is that right?), but that would be nice if they can import PG versions when production starts again.
  17. The Princelaw blogger has posted his response: http://blog.princelaw.com/2011/1/28/atf-issues-study-on-the-importability-of-shotguns-is-this-just-the-beginning
  18. True but I think the key here is that it can't come into the country with a flashlight mount, or rail systems or VFGs. Stupid yes, but the S12 comes with a traditional "hunting style" stock set and thus as imported it is no different than a Beretta A400. Someone could take that A400 and mod the crap at out of it and make it 922r compliant to have it in a more traditional "military style" look. Because the A400 could be modded in that way didn't stop it from being imported last year. Totally agree. What concerns me is if the ATF starts stepping into the "modability" of certain importe
  19. "Little advantage to the sportsman." I am sure that is the answer. That along with VFGs. You may think it gives you an advantage while hunting or shooting clays but that is not considered a good enough reason. Question: Do they want to hear from us or just from those in the affected industries (ie, the forum sponsors and others in the manufacturing/customization industry)? Just curious before I give them my email address with some feedback (though I guess I could create a special email address specifically for that purpose). You are most likely correct. However, I think hunting
  20. Don't people use flashlights for hunting feral hogs? Is that not a sport?
