mini14jac 1
My conversion is done and it looks great. I'll post pictures in a seperate post. But, with the G2 single hook trigger installed, pulling the bolt back is a real bear. If I yank it back and let go, it will close, but but if I try to pull it back slowly, it's hard to get all the way back. If I ride it the least little bit going closed, it will stop in the open position. Haven't tried to fire it yet. The sticking point is where the bolt contacts the hammer. I read that one poster cut the "hump" off his hammer. Is that a necessary mod? I suspect it's hard to get an AK bolt that is too easy to cycle. Other than the bolt being stiff, the trigger, safety, etc. work fine. Any advice?
khudzik 0
I had to dremel a little bit of metal off the hammer at the point where it contacts the bolt during cycling. Just round off that hump a bit, that's all you have to do.
scoutjoe 276
Grind the Hump.....just like at the club
UnidenStew 1
I too, have the bolt stop at that point, however, I did not think this an issue because all I have to do is just push it a little with my thumb, and it snaps closed. I was unaware that this was a problem. After installing the G2 single hook, I took it out and fired it. It worked like a charm. I just cycle the bolt as normal to chamber a round and it closes fine, unless, as you say, I pull it back slow.
G O B 3,516
Grind the hump flat to match the factory hammer. It will also get rid of triggerslap.
mini14jac 1
Thanks guys. On the Warrior Talk forum, I had read about quickly cycling the bolt with your left hand, after dropping the safety lever. No way that would work with the bolt as stiff as it is now. The hump will be gone by tonight! Using the "plate" from Tapco will certainly make the job easier. Edited March 18, 2007 by mini14jac
mini14jac 1
With the Tapco trigger retainer plate, getting the hammer out was a piece of cake. Pulled out the original hammer, so I could match the profile of it. About twenty minutes with the grinding wheel on the Dremel, and now my bolt is smooth as silk. Thanks guys!
