Will someone check my math and thinking?

I started with a Saiga Sporter in 7.62.

 

Out of 20 possible parts the rifle had 13 that were identified by 922r.

 

I replaced the hammer and trigger groups.

I added a pistol grip.

 

I still need to add one more part to be in compliance, correct?

 

I plan to add a Tapco Mag follower to be in compliance. Will it fit the Saiga magazine?

You have 15 parts if you add a pistol grip. So you need to swap out 5.

3 in the FCG + 1 in the PG will leave you just one to acquire.

 

The Shotguns have 14 parts with a PG. One less than rifles.

He machined my hammer so the BHO would fit.

A stock sporter rifle has 14 countable parts:

(1) Receiver

(2) Barrel

(3) Trunnion

(4) Bolt

(5) Bolt carrier

(6) Gas piston

(7) Trigger

(8) Hammer

(9) Disconnecter

(10) Buttstock

(11) Forearm handguards

(12) Magazine body

(13) Follower

(14) Floorplate

 

The two you can add are a pistol grip and a muzzle device. That gets you to the 16 countable parts on an AK-47.

 

Adding the pistol grip put you at 15 countable parts. Assuming your pistol grip is US-made, then you have 4 US-parts right now. The TAPCO follower will make 5, which gets you to 10 foreign made parts...and compliance.

Jim,

The pistol grip was TAPCO and I counted the same as you. I figured with adding mag. followers from TAPCO I will have the maximum of 10 imported parts. Thanks for the response.

So long as your countable foreign items number 10 or less, you can do as you like.

I think I understand better now.

 

You can add and subtract points (parts) all you want to as long as the number of foreign parts does not exceed 10.

OR TO SAY THE SAME THING ONLY DIFFERENTLY;

 

Once you reach your 10 points you don't need to worry about the total points as long as the imported parts does not exceed 10.
