dancapostagno 0
seriously, this just made my day. i've been wanting this mod since the very beginning. i know that seems silly, as it's more-or-less a cosmetic thing, but i also know i'm not the only one who's wanted this. i was beginning to think the fact that it hadn't been done by anyone since that original black & white picture of the early model Russian Saiga-12K, that it was either not doable, too much of a hassle, or that no one cared enough to bother. i award you bonus points on our arbitrary point system that i just now invented
Cobra 76 two 2,677
So does that mean if I get some of these made up and ready to install, they will be desirable enough that I can sell them? Until then, anyone who wants one is welcome to PM me and we can talk about it.
HarvKY 72
Just another creation by the master craftsman - cool as usual. Cobra, I imagine this Frankenstein type laboratory and an Edward Sissorhands type whirlwind of activity, then "poof" a new creation ! Keep up the great stuff Is the top cover just a cheesgrate tube split and popped down on the top, seperate from the handguard? Cheers, HarvKY

6500rpm 670
Sometimes factory is better. I had an AK handguard set up on mine and pulled it off and replaced it with the factory s12, then made one of these after seeing Shannon's. Funny thing is, the Saiga models, be it s12 or one of the rifle handguards actually feel better to me than anything I've tried so far. The only thing I've found to improve it is a little grip tape, but it detracts from the looks a bit.
Cobra 76 two 2,677
Cheese grater...lol. Yep, that's just a regular ol SKS heat shield form the gun show. I figured out a long time ago that they will fit almost perfectly between the GB and trunnion on the S-12 and 20, and if you have a factory or the new Tromix HG, it will snap down inside and hold itself by friction alone. If ya want it more permanent, just tack the four corners and it's on there for good.
