Got my first Saiga yesterday and already converted it

Recommended Posts

Couldn't leave it like it was...

It had the Tapco stock with pistolgrip, but the trigger pull was horrible with that setup,

the trigger wanted to rotate up while your new hand position wanted to pull it back..

Ripped into it as soon as I got home and got it converted.

My parts count is OK as long as I use Surefire mags..

I'll be adding a different stock soon, and a different hand guard.

I just modified this hand guard so it looked a bit different

I still want to move the front sight, and thread the barrel

Anyway, here's a before and after..

That looks great! I wouldn't mind getting the .308. Your's looks very nice. How long did your conversion take?

Longer than it should have :cryss:

I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get the bolt hold open back in place and working

after taking the trigger out and trimming it a few times

(it was a double hook, so I had to remove one hook, and remove a hair off the front center)

I also made a new trigger guard from scratch, but it probably took about 1.5-2 hours

Should have been about half that time,

but now I know how the BHO goes in and the trick to getting the spring in there

Nice. What kind of hand rail and scope mount is that?

Its a UTG low profile side mount. CDNN investments has them for under $30. There is two models quick release and the one that attaches with 3 allen screws. It works great.

Now the hand rail is a stock just modified.

How well do you think the optics will line up with that stock? ie do you think you'll be able to see through the scope well with the stock?

I'm about to start my .308 conversion, as soon as I decide between a kVar or tapco fixed stock set, or a choate skeleton stock. I'm wondering if my POSP will line up alright with the fixed stock like you got there.

Nice work, btw. I'm really digging that handguard. It looks great.
