Big Problem

Recommended Posts

I don't think this is a problem at all.

The gun is begging you to make it a SBS is all. Have Tony cut 11" off the bad end and all is good! Sounds like a very easy decision to me.

I have an extra copy of the paperwork (not filled out) If he needs it.

Not to add even more rain, but I thought RAAC warranty work is only done on guns that have not been modified.

At least, that's what I thought I read.

I do not believe this is the case especially in this situation where we are talking about a part that was not modified. I do believe RAA was offering to warranty converted S12's that had the faulty gas vents.

Status update:

I spoke with RAAC and they will send me a whole new gun(because they dont have a barrel replacment) if I can get this one back to stock, which I cant. Then I spoke with Tom at CGW. He said he would fix it with no problem. Big Props to CGW and Tom!

Not withstanding my F'd up barrel can someone please check my math.

Heres what I've added:

1 FOREARM-SGM TACTICAL GEN. 1 SAIGA 12 GAUGE TRI-RAIL +1

1 MOUNT-SAIGA AK47 SIDE RAIL LOW PROFILE +0

1 STOCK-SAIGA/AK 47 TAPCO T-6 COLLAPSIBLE BLACK +1

1 GRIP-SAIGA, AK47 SAW-STYLE PISTOL +1

1 TRIGGER GROUP-TROMIX SAIGA FIRE CONTROL GROUP +3

1 TRIGGER GUARD-SAIGA 12 TROMIX D-I-Y +0

1 SAIGA 12 TROMIX FLASH HIDER +1

1 Saiga 12 Gauge Shotgun 12rd Magazine +3

1 VERTICAL GRIP - FOLDING +0

If my count is correct then I have 10 US made 922r pieces.

Since I have a 19in threaded barrel I should have a starting count of 14...right? So.....14-10 gives me 4 foreign parts, well under the 10...am I right or wrong ?...Thanks

Glad to hear it :super: .

It's nice having the shop that does warranty work, as a part of this forum.

Glad everything worked out for ya!

Not quite correct, but you are legal.

14 counted parts.

Tromix FCG = 3

Handguard = 1 (if it's US made, I don't recognize the brand)

Buttstock = 1

That leaves you with 9 foreign parts. 922r requires that you have no more than 10 foreign parts on a non-sporting gun, so you are good to go.

I thought the mag counted as 3 and the brake counted as 1

14 part gun+ 1 for pistol grip = 15 parts...

-3 for FCG

-1 for tri rail

-3 for mag

-1 for muzzle device(Tromix)

-1 for saw grip

-1 for T-6 buttstock

= 5 imported parts...

you needed 10 or less...

your 5 to the good.

so good for you! now go out and get that american made barrel you over-achiever! And a gas piston while your at it!

I don't count magazines for compliance; it's not a good practice since inserting a Russian mag would break the law.

You don't count the muzzle device for compliance IMO.

Good luck with that american barrel, I wonder if this is a valid product. They're not simple to intall either.

Your right on the mags, its not good practice.

Whats your opinion on the muzzle device then? the threads are the part?

Well, there is some debate as to whether the "thread protector" is a "muzzle device", and whether the addition of a choke makes the gun "non-sporting"

I've never seen a ruling on it, so I could be wrong here. I'll ask Tony later.

Geez, wouldn't chokes make it more sporting for clays & birds?

Laws and thier interpritations do NOT have to make sense...

What was the outcome of this? Reason I ask is my Saiga has the same problem.

If you sent it to CGW, how did they fix it?

I had a similar problem. I just cut a 1/2 in from the barrel and add 1/2in of thread with a die and TAT I rented from DINZAG.
