Vultite 57
well, even though M16's and M4's and a ton of 5.56 weapons are in use, it will eventually be obsolete and they will be replaced. But doing so during a war is beyond worth the extra $$ involved, so it'll happen whenever we pull the cock outta our asses and bring our boys home. America will NEVER adapt to 7.62X39 because they just can't accept a Russian design, thus why the development of the 6 . somethings....hopefully they get it figured out, but the 6.8 is a good round, more accurate then X39 IMO

superA 289
Kinda hard to argue against the 6-7mm designs as far as ballistics go as well.

In fact, if you look at it- our taste in rounds at the civilian level does tend to influence what we are comfortable shooting as a military round, as opposed to the other way around. The fact that we have a large base of active civilian sporting shooters determines which rounds make it to the top of the heap, instead of a top-down approach. I guess this means that whichever of the new cartridges makes the biggest splash in civilian sales will help tip the scales in its favor when the time comes for the military to consider a new one. Twinsen 86
We see that the 5.56 has too little frontal area, and that a .30 is needed. So we go to 6.8 and then get to complain about too little frontal area.
