22-250 saiga

Thinking about rebarreling to 22-250. Do you think the barrel would hold up in rapid fire? Would a 1 in 7 barrel be right for 90 grian bullet? I was planning on a 24 inch barrel no less than .800 at the muzzle. Any ideas out there?

Unless you have a secret source for AK barrels in that caliber, you would be just as well off and probably the same money in the end to buy a 243wsm upper for an AR-15.

 

Wildcatting is fine, but its usually far simpler in a boltaction platform.

Just how would you go about doing a barrel swap. Especially that caliber? It would be way differant. I havent heard of a 22-250 AK but hey, Dont let us stop you.

Dude, just get a barrel and have someone do a new build for you. New receiver, new everything. I would not count on modifying a saiga for that. If I may suggest though? Get a receiver with a threaded front trunion. It will make things easier on everybody invlovled. I would also suggest an adjustable gas system and some hefty research first. Both will save a lot of heart-ache and rebuild costs.
