t165 30
A friend of mine on Facebook (yeah I'm one of those) sent me a message yesterday detailing a proposal by the Obama Administration to form a Board of Governors made up of selected elected Governors from different states to oversee a transition which would allow enhanced information sharing between the Armed Forces, National Guard units, and domestic Law Enforcement Agencies while bypassing current protocols. David is a bit of an anarchist and seems to think this is a move by the federal government to establish greater jurisdiction within the individual states by the Federal Government. I took it as a means for enchanced communication between the states and Federal Government/Military due to the constant threat of terrorism within our United States. I was curious if any on this forum has heard anything about this and what is your take? Edited January 13, 2010 by t165

DogMan 2,343
If you want to overstep your boundaries without too many people noticing, the first thing you do is start blurring those boundaries. Sure they will start with something as innocent as information sharing and let folks adapt to that before proceeding onward from there to interweave these entities to the point that they can all act on behalf of each other. All in the name of "protecting" us, of course. Edited January 13, 2010 by DogMan

IndyArms 10,186
Obama's Governor : The Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that Obama himself has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away. General public : But that's impossible. How will Obama maintain control without the bureaucracy? Obama's Governor : The regional governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local's in line. Fear of this NEW WORLD ORDER. ( Edited from the ORIGINAL TEXT slightly to be more appropriate to a galaxy much, MUCH Closer! )

crackback 135
The bright side of that is its only an executive order. The next president can just as easily and quickly undo it. If Posse Commitatus were to be abrogated I would expect at the least governors resisting the loss of control of the Nat Guard and a quick Supreme Court Challenge.
