Tram 11
I'm thinking about hitting my S12 (and future builds) with dome new paint so I'm considering bake on paints, also considering a few non-bake but baking them to speed curing.. I'm wondering if anyone has a cheap remedy for a gun oven? I'm thinking a hot plate, some tin foil and a hot plate.. Anyone with suggestions?

Matthew Hopkins 1,065
check out garage sales, I see ovens for very cheap under 100 bucks. might want to consider something like that, if you plan on future builds. or just wait for the wife/GF to leave or go on a long errand, and use the one in the kitchen
skiboatsp 111
I built a great 4 full size gun oven capable of 425 degree F with a heatgun also The great thing is it's UL listed and very safe Use steel 5 gal. thinner cans cut ends and stack 4 high rivet 3 together, the 4th one slips togeather for the top cut 4 2" holes in top to adjust heat wrap with hot water insulation blanket from home depot cut a hole at bottom for heat gun Made a rack that slips in with guns loaded and separated Further adjust heat by moving heatgun up to or slightly away from the opening at bottom Works Great!! skiboatsp 111
The nice thing about the heatgun it's UL listed and thermolly protected This means you don't have to worry about burning the house down...insurance companies and wives don't seem to like that? Also verticle model holds 4 guns and is easier to load.

skiboatsp 111
Cheap metal cans readily available cut and pop rivet together. Drill a hole for thermometer and one in bottom for heatgun. A few vents in the top wrap with water heater insulation build rack from cheap conduit use safe UL tested heatsource viola cheap 4 gun 425 degree capable oven. Adjust temp by moving heatgun slightly away from opening, and cover or uncover vents in top. Edited July 2, 2010 by saigatechusa
