Wood Folding Stock

Recommended Posts

In the process of having a folder put on my S12....then I saw Paulyskis beautiful wood.....

Now I would like to be able to put a wood stock on as a folder.....

Any thoughts?

Or would the black folder look ok with wood grip and foregrip?

If there is a will there's a way.....

1. Make or buy wooden stock.

2. Cut stock in half.

3. Bore out halves to conceal metal plate.

4. Place metal in between stock halves and drill holes for bolts

5. Though bolt stock halves to metal plate.

6. Weld metal plate to a folding mechanism.

7. Affix folding mechanism to gun.

Not exactly in that order.

Presto. Wooden folding stock. If you use my idea, just make me one too.

Thanks.

Remove the portion of a wood stock that would go in the reciever. Pre-drill the stock for a large lag bolt. Screw the lag bolt in until it is bottomed out in the hole. Grind it down but leave about 1/4" sticking out of the wood. Drill a hole in an ACE folding mechanism and weld the lag bot to it. If you wanted to ensure that it wouldn't rotate, you could drill an additional hole through the plate and stock and put a piece of rod in it and weld where it goes through the plate. When you get it all welded nice, grind it to perfection. If you use my idea.... post pics and tell everyone I'm a genius :lolol: Well.... don't lie to them, but just say I planted the seed :smoke:

Just buy a Yugo M70 butt stock. Ironwood designs has new US made ones. R guns has complete factory buttstocks. They are not inletted for the top tang so they are perfect for this. They do have through bolts so all you have to do is inlet the front of the stock for the ACE folder and drill and tap the folder piece for the through bolt.

Do you weld?

If so, wrap a 1/3" collar of steel around the sides & bottom of the stock, use the factory tang too & attach it to the folding mechanism.

Then you can have screws through the sides too.

The collar would prevent the wood from splitting if you butt-strike someone.

If you can't do that, (Thank Kris Fox for this idea) try drilling large pilot holes in a laminate stock, insert lag bolts, cut the heads off of the Lag bolts to where they're flush, drill down the center of the bolts, tap the new holes & now you'll be able to use screws small enough to use on the folding mech, but they will be held in there really strong by the steel inserts you created with the lag bolts.

It would be much better than just simply wood screws.

....then I saw Paulyskis beautiful wood.....

...Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that you need to seek psychiatric help. :D

Oh... Come on now....

You know you want my wood.

Feeling how smooth & perfect it is when you create the cheek weld on it, & the exhilaration you feel when it shoots.

But really....

You know you want to try a cheek-weld on my wood.
