1mile50 102
Saw this stand alone vise in Home Depot and figured it would be handy for all kinds of jobs, including conversions. I just used it to hold my x39 while I installed a Mojo Micro Click rear sight and a KNS front post. I was right. This setup allows more access to the work than a bench mounted vise and it is rubber padded, the rubber inserts may be removed for heavier jobs. This is by no means a heavy machine vise, but for what I do at home, it works great. Held my rifle rock solid while I was working on it.. Next I will use it to hold my Saigas while I cut the tangs and install Ace adapter blocks, and to convert my 2nd S-12, due in next week. Ace stocks were not in stock and were not readily available when I did my 1rst conversions.
22_Shooter 1,560
What's the make and model on that rig? That'd be perfect for someone like me who lives in an apartment and doesn't have a huge work bench with a vice on it. Edited January 29, 2011 by -Shooter-

I think it would make a great fixture for boresighting rifles and other work besides it looks pretty portable. How much does it weight?
1mile50 102
It is made by Ridgid, it is called a Portable Work Station. Folds up for stowage in under a minute. 37 lbs. I paid 139.00. Edited January 29, 2011 by 1mile50

Mullet Man 2,114
Yea, those things are handy. Keep an eye on the little rubber plug/cap that goes in the top of the middle leg. It can come loose and when you try to fold or unfold the leg, it will jam up and bend that leg some. It doesnt effect function, just a small PITA. They're pretty handy overall tho, definitely a third hand.

Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
$139 is not a bad price at all for that. Rigid usually makes good stuff too.
BpS12 512
I've got an old leg vise that I used to use for blacksmithing years ago, that works much the same but likely at twice to 3 times the weight, lol. If I didn't have it, I'd have gone for something like this.
rjrivero 50
I have one of the original Jaw Horse's from Rockwell. Works great at a lot of stuff. Never considered using it for a gun vice before, and I don't really know why I haven't.
ibuytoys 1
1mile50, How do you like that worktable that's in the rear left of your picture? I was going to pick one up from Sam's Club and was wondering how it's holding up?
1mile50 102
I have quite a few of the Seville workbenches and rolling cabinets. I like them. Here are some pics of more of them in my reloading room. I've made some changes since, but the basic layout is the same. http://forum.saiga-12.com/uploads/gallery/1296176597/gallery_14946_258_86449.jpg http://forum.saiga-12.com/uploads/gallery/1296176597/gallery_14946_258_21248.jpg
