Any best practices for breaking in a new Saiga?

Recommended Posts

A lot of people are going to tell you start off w/high brass stuff (slugs, buckshot, etc.) This is a good idea, but also can get expensive. If you have the money then go with that first, or get some higher velocity stuff >1300 FPS and run that 1st. Then get some Federal bulk at walmart (the cheap stuff) and run that after to see how your gun shoots. I started off w/slugs thru mine, I think 30 rounds, then I had some higher brass stuff after that, then I put the Federal bulk through it. At first a couple of the slugs didnt even eject. after about 120 rounds alltogether, she warmed up and I haven't had a problem with ANYTHING since. Good luck man! Have fun!022.gif

Best answer already given. Make sure it is empty, then lube the heck out of the shotgun,(including the hammer/trigger group) then hand cycle the action several HUNDRED times. Dry fire it each time. You will NOT hurt it.

You probably will smell the odor of hot metal, which is exactly what it is. You are burnishing in the action of your mighty AK sporting shotgun. This saves time and ammo and is kinda fun in its own way.

Spare firing pins are available. Tromix "Heavy Hitters" I have one, but haven't needed it yet. THEN...put the gas regulator on #2 and start out with Wally World cheap low base. Federal has a little bit more powder. HB of CJ (old coot)
