Find a good DIY trust and ask questions of others in your state that have gone the same route. I was referred to a attorney who would do one for ONLY $450.00. I'm sure he can refer you to a "friend" in your state. :lolol:

Quicken, etc. Sometimes the ATF will spot issues with them. Some times that get approved. They can also have issues that you won't figure out until later. Like when a lawyer at the ATF goes through the copy of your trust they keep on file and realizes it's isn't valid because of some detail of state law.

If you have an invalid trust and it's supposed to be the owner of an NFA weapon you can have a very serious problem. As in a 10 year and $250,000 kind of problem. It all comes down to your tolerance for risk.

If you really want to save some money you can save the $200 fee to the ATF too. After all, when was the last time you heard of anyone getting asked for their form 1 by a cop?

Quicken is a shit trust as an estate planning device so it should work just wonderfully as a gun trust giving you as trustee all the powers you will ever need. :lolol: ...and it's probably only $100 and I bet you could even save that by re-typing someone elses...because that is the way good legal documents are prepared. Why pay an attorney $450 for 2 hours of his time...fuck the NFA...just do it yourself. :killer::lolol:

What could possibly go wrong?

A document that prevents you from going to jail for 10 years is an important document. It's like writing your own prenup. If you screw it up it can cost you a LOT more than $450, but you'll feel really good about the savings until you get the subpoena.

If you have access to legal advice and they're any good, they'll be willing to recommend a specialist for stuff that they don't handle in-house.

Failing that, start at guntrustlawyer.com and find a new legal firm for your day-to-day stuff.

$500 or never owning firearms again? I don't know about you, but I'll happily pay the $500. Besides, if you read the fine print on Quicken, they tell you to talk to a lawyer to make sure that you cover their butt. In other words, it's all *YOUR* fault if the trust you created by using their software is invalid. So, either way you're paying a lawyer for a couple hours work!
