I found this gun at IWA in Germany earlier this year.To my understanding, it's a special model for the Russian IPSC team, but Molot are hopefully prepared to produce another batch. RS12 7 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 That's an interesting gun. It looks like they have a finger adjustable gas knob on these models. There's only one pic where you can see down the front of the gas knob and it appears to have a screw or something that you can adjust like the spring loaded one on the autoplug. I notice the 12E version has the sight built right into the gas block and it does not appear to have an adjustable gas knob. I assume this is because the race gun will likely be used with more types of ammo. I would like to own one of these but most likely never will as I don't believe we can import them for civilian sales. Cool gun though. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The first version of the R&R Saiga had a thumb mag release, we still have some of the kits left if you want one. It works well but I didn't like it because I would keep dropping the mag as I'm used to shooting 1911 style pistols with my thumb up by the safety. Doug Quote Link to post Share on other sites

It feels extremely natural and allows for the right hand to easily support the weight of the shotgun with the right hand and drop the mag while the left hand reaches for a fresh one. Mag changes for me go something like this: drop the buttstock a couple inches down so it rests just under my armpit, index/trigger finger rests under the LRBHO knob (this ensures a loaded mag won't cause the BHO to be released early as a side benefit) while the thumb pushes forward on the mag release. This forward pressure on the mag release keeps the muzzle in line with the targets and stops the shotgun from swigning back and forth while it's barely sitting in my armpit. New mag gets put in with the left hand which then pulls back on the left side charging handle to release the BHO and let's it fly. While my support hand goes up to the handguard/mag to support the right arm brings the shotgun back to the firing shoulder. Timing myself from standard mag release to thumb mag release dropped 1-3 seconds off my reloads and once practiced it became apparent that each hand had it's own, seperate tasks to accomplish (right hand supporting the gun and puching the thumb release while the left retrieved and loaded the full mag) making the reloading cycle less complicated for a stressed brain to accomplish. As we all know a mind under stress will strip fine motor skills and this big hunk of metal to push on makes dropping the mag easy while the left receives most of the attention to manipulate the magazine. Combined with their left side charging handle and CGW's LRBHO I now have my dream 3 gun shotgun. My .02 Eric Quote Link to post Share on other sites
