Moxon 0
I just bought my first 10 round mag for my Saiga 12.... I am pretty smart so I did not inspect it or anything when picked it out of the bin.... anyway... the magazine follower does not stop short of the top of the magazine like my 5 rounder does.... It goes all the way to the top of the magazine and my bolt actually bumps into it and sticks open when there are no rounds left..... I looked up stock pictures of a promag 10 round mag and the follower is definitely in the wrong spot on mine... Any way to fix this or did I just get a bum mag? Place I bought it from will probably swap it out but if not oh well... $25 for a lesson learned

Cobra 76 two 2,677
Oh lordy.... here goes another Promag bashing thread about to start in 3 - 2- 1..... You are about to hear a few people tell you to never ever again buy any Promag products for the S-12 or any other guns. The fact that their 10 and 12 rd drums, along with the 20 rd drums, work great, doesn't seem to matter to them. Fact of the matter is, the problem you are having with that 10 rd stick is common. It was a crappy design error. They didn't do a great job designing those particular mags (like many of their past mags for other guns, no doubt), but they have since made improvements, and it does carry a lifetime warranty, so just send it back or ask the dealer to let you trade it in and let him do the warranty dance. For what it's worth, I have some factory Saiga shotgun mags that have the same issue.
Moxon 0
Thanks for the info.. I just wanted to make sure the mag was malfunctioning and not my brain. If the mag gives you feed problems, ask again, but the cork will fix the follower part. Good luck.
Skitterfish 10
No kidding a cork fix from Pauly. I have two of those that came used with the gun and do the same thing. Pauly, would you use a real cork or is the synthetic versions serviceable?

Pauly, would you use a real cork or is the synthetic versions serviceable? Normally I'd be dead set against a jerry-rig but IMHO, using the currently available US made stick mags is already a jerry-rig to begin with because they're not mil-spec like the Russian 8's are. As long as It's just a range mag, just use whichever works for the range. Then acquire Russian 8's & MD-20's. Or.... Set it up with a good magwell that'll support the mag better & Have Tuned AGP-10's or tuned Surefire 8's
lbsrdi 1,078
I have two of these mags and one of them does the same thing. As far as the 12 round drum goes, get one, they are the perfect size amd I have never had a single problem with it after several hundered rounds shot through it. For what it's worth, I have some factory Saiga shotgun mags that have the same issue. Promag has some excellent magazines on the market. Their steel Mini-14 20 rounders are basically Ruger OEM mags with a promag stamp. Identical welds, construction, locking tab. Their 9mm polymer AR-15 SMG magazines are great too, ran nothing but them for a few years when colt 9mm mags were too expensive. I'm actually looking at buying some of their Saiga 10 rounders as we speak. It's a well kept secret that promag makes some really good stuff.
Fallschirmjager667 729
the promag stick mags are not very good, i had one that i could not get to feed correctly until i cut it down to 5, but the promag drums are awesome
MrBoomstick 16
I know the early gen promag sticks had issues, i have a pair of the later gen ones and they run perfect, their actually my favorite stick mag,and that's something i never thought i would say a bout a pro mag. I had an issue like that with an agp i had i just squeezed the metal clip a bit tighter.
kindapointless 22
I had one that did the same thing, I got it free with gun sent it to promag and they sent a gen2 version. Up until about 2 months ago it was my favorite mag but after around 7000 rounds its getting kinda worn out and loose but I couldn't really ask for anything more
Skitterfish 10
I did the Pauly cork fix on my two pro-mag mags and it worked like a charm. I wouldn't consider them for shtf duty but they work now and thats far better than two more paperweights in the gun room!
