Shakenbake158 0
Hey guys, as the title says, I am trying to find a Saiga .308 for hunting and target shooting. It'll be my first semi-auto assault rifle. Anyways I have been looking around and I can't seem to find one for sale anywhere. Do you guys know where I can buy one? Preferably new. Also how much should I be paying for one? What is a reasonable price? Thanks for your help
TheDarkHorse 216
Let me help you out there brother... First, please don't refer to it as an "assault rifle" because it is not. It's a sporting rifle of the classic Kalishnakov design. Anti-gun folks like to use that term against us law-abiding owners of weapons. Prices vary and especially now that they are no longer being made. I've had good luck at a few pawn shops but ideally, you want a good dealer who carries them. I'd say at the moment, a reasonable price is in the $500-600 range. Keep and eye on the for sale section here on this forum. They pop up from time to time. Good luck with your purchase!
Shakenbake158 0
Alright thanks, I've seen them called that before so I wasn't sure. Anyways there is one on GunBroker for about $650 brand new, and I have an FFL Dealer nearby that does it for $25. But I'll keep my eyes open.
red308 54
centerfire has vepr 308's for 599.0 in stock its a great option if you cant find a saiga.
csspecs 1,987
The saiga rifles are still being made from what I can tell. They are having some production shortfalls due to financial issues. The Vepr .308 rifles are a great value right now.
Shakenbake158 0
Alright, well looks like I might just have to pick up a VEPR. Am I able to replace the stock on the VEPR? Just wondering for future reference.

I've been talking to Frank at RWC about getting .308 bolt groups in. I emailed him this morning and asked him about Saiga gun & parts imports and he says they're alive and well. He says they're receiving shipments all the time. I'm a little confused. For OP here's a new one for 655.00 from a local seller.http://texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=238145 PM me if you want the link, it's been a long time since I've posted here and I didn't know that you can't post links. My post count looks to be reset too. Edited November 5, 2012 by HKaltwasser
