netpackrat 566
12 Ga. you want IMR Hi Skor 700X Maybe for trap loads. I've been using HS-6 for buckshot and slugs. 7.62 X 51 you want BLC-2 works great with SMK`s in the 40 Gr. load range I tried BLC-2 and didn't really have any complaints about it. I've pretty much settled on Varget for my .308 powder which is relatively close in terms of burn rate. If you have a 16" .308, you really need to use a powder that is on the faster end of burn rates out of the powders that your manual will list for .308. Using a chronograph, I was able to find the most efficient charge for a given bullet weight pretty easily. It's the charge right below where the velocity spread starts to go crazy for little gain in average MV. Edited November 7, 2012 by Netpackrat
