Squeaky 135
Hey Guys: AK Monty's post reminded me to finally ask all of you for opinions about my 1911 .45 ACP. I've had a High Standard 1911 for several years and I've been very satisfied with it. It's been reliable as long as you don't get stupid and try to Hollywood rapid fire it. The interesting thing is I previously owned a "regular" parkerized Springfield 1911 (that I gave to a friend who joined the Marines) which was more expensive. However, I've experienced tighter groups with this High Standard 1911. The majority of the time I shoot Winchester 230 gr. FMJs. Lots of Federal ammo too. Anyway, I just wonder what is High Standard's reputation. If it's bad, then I got lucky with my purchase. If it's good, then I simply chose a good pistol designed for my simple purpose - to shoot. I told the guy at my LGS I didn't need some fancy competition pistol. Thanks. Edited July 24, 2014 by Squeaky
Shandlanos 1,470
They're fine, pretty straightforward 1911s made in the Phillipines iirc.I had one for a while, sold it to a buddy who turned it into an SBR. I had no complaints, aside from my general dislike of the iron sights on a 1911. It ate everything I fed it, including hollow points, without a hiccup.

magsite20 1,664
I think the same bunch that makes them for High Standard makes some for others including some of the STI's
sobrenegade 795
Great little gun. I've had no problems with mine and last year I had a gunsmith replace the flat mainspring housing with an arched one as on my Springfield. Couldn't be happier now.
macbeau 902
They use good steel in the ARMSCOR pistols, according to my LGS. The also use U.S. MilSPEC blueprints when making these pistols.....from what I am told! Macbeau...
