  1. I think for general home defense I'm gonna grab some hornady when it becomes available (good point about your rifle rusting up after the police have it in a defensive shooting). And I think for homestead SHTF 7n6 is fine since being able to clean corrosive ammo is not a problem. But want a good non corrosive bug-out ammo, I could use corrosive but I would need to carry more cleaning supplies, and since space and weight is very limited I want non-corrosive ammo.
  2. I'm pretty interested in this, I read the thread at akforum and couldn't really make sense of it. I looking to find a non-corrosive alternative for a SHTF bugout bag (maybe the hornady, but I'd prefer something cheaper). Does anybody have info on silver bear ballistic wise?
  3. Could you post a link? I'd like to check it out.
  4. I was doing reloads like this which is what you I think you guys are talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_zgQTic6ds But I think there is a much greater chance of messing it up due to how awkward it is, especially under stress. Here are some reasons why changed to the new technique: -I don't lose situational awareness as long (time) trying to fit the magazine into the mag well because it easier to get to, and I can see it (the mag and the magwell). -It is consistent and the same basic movement as my other reloads and immediate actions (I have a few other videos up
  5. I decided to make and post some tactical AK specific training videos up on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nby9Hmq1nlk I just think there kinda a lack of quality FREE training resources that pertain specifically to the AK series of weapons. So I decided to make some tactical and just plain fun shooting videos. Constructive criticism is welcome.

  7. Through steel into soft body armor. (there is an intro and detail video pertaining to this but so just click it from my channel) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xinZQ8WkDdA

  9. Update, Trijicon tripower w/primary arms cantilever mounted to an ultimak Ace folder and light I really like how I can still use my irons underneath my tripower, I know I could have set it up to cowitness but this protects from heat, and if tripower got fragged or something I still have my irons. Plus the optic sits back more into the center of the weapon. I know my paint is wearing alittle bit, this is my goto gun it's all about function not show.
  10. I think Greg (CSS) has them...
  11. I have a 17 and a 19 and both are great. The 19 is really nice, packs allota capability into a small concealable package.
  12. Is that on onesourcetactical.com? What is it called? Thanks Blue force gear, PM sent.
  13. Gabe Suarez uses some type of band that wraps around the skinny part of a standard ak buttstock and makes a singlepoint attatchment point.
  14. G17 OR G19, (my pref) XDs, and M&Ps are nice but I dont like the metal mags as much as glocks polymer ones. The most important factor is how the pistol fits and fires in your hand.
  15. Really? How about removing the buttstock instead?
  16. Cause saiga's are typically more accurate and are brand new. The average ak-47 has scene quite a bit of use. Plus you can have a saiga in any custom configuration +lots of optics and accessories. I'd definitely take a converted (me or quality conversion) saiga over an average AK-47. Now if your talking about a new russian krink or ak-105 or a customized ak-47 with all my favorite parts then yes I'd definitely take that over a saiga.
  17. You would have been better off not even cleaning it than letting windex and water (+any salts left under powder residue and copper) to sit in your gun for 3days. Anytime you do any cleaning at the range or whatever you gotta get all the moisture out of you gun immediately. Gunzilla cleans corrosive and its a clean/lube/protect product. I would either spray it out with windex or water, followed by a shitload of wd40 and dry patches to get all the water out, or just wipe the parts down with a wet water rag and clean the bore wet water or windex patch/clp patch/water patch/clp patch/ then clean a
  18. +++1 I totally agree, a weapon light is MUCH cheaper than court or worse living with the knowledge you killed an unarmed kid, maybe your own kid. Leaving your doors open while your asleep in a house is a BIG no-no, it's asking for trouble. When I was on active duty as a Marine I heard MANY accounts (some that resulted in everyone being restricted to base) of other drunk Marines going into people's homes and sleeping on the couch etc... Not to mention there are a good number of people in this world that are diabetic or have other medical issues which are non threatening but may cause
  19. I've used gpal several times and no problems.. I highly recommend it.
  20. The 5.56 is a poor round for a 14" barrel, basically garbage for anything past 100m. But I still have a hard time believing AK47s are out preforming it at longer ranges. AK47's and M4 are shorter range weapons. The M4 with optics (ACOG) has a huge accuracy advantage at ranges in excess of 100m but has a poor effect on targets, the AK47 (no optics) has a huge advantage in terms of stopping power at the same ranges but is not as precise. That said neither has a clear advantage in my book. I kinda feel like the US military should quit trying to make all our infantry weapons so standardi
  21. True, but I just don't think a light drop from 2ft should damage it to that degree (wasn't in half yet but the sight picture was totally F'd). The combination of heavy weight and weak cast construction is was the reason it bent/broke... Hopefully yours gives you allot more durability and years of great service. Maybe I got a lemon, the problem is that I cant send it back to the manufacturer for warranty work (before I broke it in half). So I'm just saying buyer beware, I'd like to only have to spend that much money on an optic once.
  22. no, there is no warranty.... Atleast with cheapy scopes they have life time guarantee's so if/when they break you just return it for a new one.
  23. What do you mean? My forum-slang-fu is poor...
  24. I should have known better than to purchase this POS... I just wasted $200 (kalinka) on a paper weight. I was trying to get the scope to side onto my side rail and it was getting hung up, so while I was bending over trying to get the scope on/off correctly it slipped off and fell ~2 1/2' to on to my basement floor. It dented the top of the eyepiece side. I thought no biggie these scopes are supposed to be very tough, and I thought it was odd that such a light impact dented it. Then I looked through it and I was looking at the bottom side of the sight picture in the scope in a sorta inv
