  1. I am trying to figure out the best double and single mag pouches for the FBMG 20rd magazines.I don't like stuffing them down into full length or over length pouches because it makes reloads waaaaay too slow.Any ideas? They won't fit in an M14 magazine pouch very well so what's your answer? Pardon the 30rd typo in the subject header
  2. I had a Meopta 1-4x30 on an M1A and liked it so well that I wanted to run one all the time but it still gave a weird optical effect with both eyes open on 1x for some reason but these Specter things are like looking through an AIMPOINT until you crank up the magnification. kinda like my 3 favorite short to medium range optics wrapped up in a bombproof shell but for $1700 it ought to be everything they say it is
  3. That's an "ass full" to be sure and despite your impressive resume I have only in the last couple of years found almost none of that barrel harmonics stuff to be accurate and most of the data you are quoting and utilizing is ancient history and if you ask the commercial barrel makers that are now dominating the world of rifle accuracy and making barrels for the military like Lija,Kreiger,Rock Creek, ect they have taken the world of rifle accuracy to a whole new level and what's more they will prove it by producing barrels that are more inherently accurate than anything produced in your service
  4. Where do you get your information? A role playing or video game If you own a chronograph you can see the extra 200FPS generated by a commercial 308 load vs milsurp stuff of the same weight and not to mention the fact that acceptable headspace for 7.62 NATO is outside of safe limits for 308 Winchester by winchesters own data!! More shooting and less bullshitting Tokageko
  5. Without an exponential increase in barrel diameter nothing you said is even possible due to a lack of regidity and bad barrel harmonics. MOA is MOA whether it is out of an Encore with a 10" barrel or a Remington PSS with a long barrel and the fact that the USMC is testing 16" sniper rifles with only velocity loss impeding their adoption I really can't completely agree with anything you just posted in any practical(portable) barrel contour. I have a 338 Lapua with a 29" barrel and it is massively thick to obtain the same rigidity accracy as my little 308 Remington LTR with a much shorte
  6. Pardon my lack of gun knowledge...what does the MRBS stand for? Mean Rounds Between Stoppage, the Mini-30 probably operates in the 2,000-3,000MRBS range is it's anything like an AC556 while some have commented that the more modern AK variants could be pushing 30,000rds between stoppages
  7. A Saiga(or just about any Kalashnikov for that matter) will last longer and have fewer jams/misfeeds than a whole case of Mini30s or even an SKS. The Saiga is made on the improved AK100 series machinery built for the Russian Service Rifle competition and it was beat out by the AN94 design due to it's lightweight and recoiless operating system. Old AKs that were Vietnam War captures which had already been through a war before ending up in US hands were tested to exceed 16,000 MRBS while our own weapons can't break the 4,000 mark. The M249 SAW, SIG556 and a host of other world renown
  8. I know it but truthfully I use Saigas for their quality not for their low cost. With the new 20rd mags available for them I am actually choosing to run a Saiga S308 instead of an M1A,HK or FN. If a Saiga S308-1 was $2000 I would still buy it:D SIG308 Galil 308 Valmet 308 VEPR308 All of them are basically the same weapon mechanically and when I realized that the Saiga was as accurate as any of them and now available hicap mags the choice was obvious. I'm also putting a $91 SEI Vortex and a $115 SEI 3 piece compensator on this rifle:D
  9. Armored 1-4X with an illuminated rangefinding reticle and throw lever mount http://www.armament.com/SpecterDR_Dual_Rol...tical_Sight.PDF The 7.62 reticle version looks like a "must have" for our Saiga 308s
  10. I'd love to have some custom furniture from you but I'll be doing good to pony up the $20 for a "very used" RPK set from IO and then get to work with the sandpaper and wood filler
  11. I literally came already installed on a barrel I bought from simpletom!! I already modified a K-Var black polymer handguard to fit on my Saiga 308 but now that I have this handguard retainer I might as well "go for the gold" and use that beefy RPK forend too. I didn't see the used sets when looking just now so maybe I should call and see if they still have them. What kind of handguard is that blonde wood on yours and what size retainer is that? I have a blonde furniture set but it won't work with the RPK retainer any better than the polymer stuff.
  12. Dammit,I sure do like the evil look of that thing, what is it's effectivness on recoil?
  13. The primary importer only lists 2 barrel lengths so I imagine you are right. Why in the hell would you want a 24" barrel on something as anemic as a 308 though?

    My .308's

I'm trying to find some wood for mine right now but "No Joy" as of yet. That is a really nice looking rifle sir and I'm sure you'll develope all of the requisite skills to do it yourself if you hang out here long enough
  15. Hey Guys, I was just tickled to death to finally get an RPK handguard retainer and get it on my S308 conversion only to find out that the tiny gap betweent the RPK retainer and a standard handguard is not so tiny after all(I thought I'd fill it in with a bent piece of aluminum strap). Now I am on the hunt for a stamped receiver RPK forend to put on this baby(last thing to do before posting some pics) and all I can find is the purple polymer model for $65!! I really don't want to spend that much money on something that I'll have to paint black to use and was thinking that a wooden model wo
  16. There's a difference between inherent accuracy and perceived accuracy and most people don't bother to learn the difference so personal experience is anecdotal for 90% of the shooters out there. The more rigid the barrel the more accurate it is and both diameters being equal the shorter barrel will be more rigid and therefore more accurate. You may sacrifice velocity in the shorter barrel but as long as the barrel imparts one full rotation in the rifling to the bullet before it exits the bore the inherent accuracy will not be disturbed. Perceived accuracy on the other hand is a matt

You live in Tulsa(or Broken Arrow or Bixby or some other such place) so turn on a police scanner and give it a listen and see what's going on right down the street from you and you'll start to figure out just how close that shithole is to totally imploding. It has already imploded there a couple of times(race riots and the big flood) before but now that the population density is 10x what is was during the Tulsa Race Riots and the percentage of people below the poverty line(many of whom don't speak English nowadays) you are sitting on the edge of a Golf Course that's only 2 weeks of supply
  18. Sorry Bro, I already paypaled him for it and I'm just waiting for it to get here
  19. Does that FAL grip stay put when you try to rotate it and if so how did you manage to keep it stable(mods)? I tired using an FAL Ergo grip a couple of years ago and it just didn't want to cooperate but it looks so good on yours it makes me want one.
  20. What kind of scope is that Guido? A Leupold CQ/T? That's a hot rifle by the way;)

Wow. There is no way I am touching this without getting a couple cups of coffee first. My father is having a relatively minor surgery today, and I have to head to the hospital soon. I'll come back an edit this post or respond later. Offhand, I'd only add that we've been hearing this type of analysis for decades. While it has elements of truth to it, it's a tad more complicated than that. And as I've tried to impart, preparing for one possibility does not preclude preparing for the other. We cannot work in a paradigm where we are using stereotypical characters in the place of acuta

You are a functional retardate if you think the market will beat guns in the next 20 years If I'd spent all of my college money on guns I'd be a millionaire right now and I started college 1 month before Black Monday 1987 and saw suckers like you blowing their brains out and jumping in front of busses while my parents who had all their money in rental property and didn't feel a thing;) It's unraveling partner and your little "yuppie bubble" is no "safe zone" because if nothing else costs are outpacing wages and the "have nots" are only going to borrow money for gas to get to work for

  24. None of the GBs I have removed were silver soldered. You can take that GB off and weld a tiny spot on the inside bottom and press it back on and tighten the seal or you can turn the barrel in a knurling fixture to increase the diameter slightly at the rear of the GB when it's pressed back on(my choice) but once it's starts leaking it's like a leaking exhaust manifold and the exiting gasses will increase the leak until you start getting functioning problems but it will take a lot of shooting a semi-auto 308 to really show it's ass.
