  4. There is some really great stuff out there for the money these days. Not like it was 20 years ago. Now it is all CNC Machined and the quality is pretty damn good. Where the $100 optics are better than the $500 optics from years ago!! Jack

  6. How much does a safety like that cost? Sorry, just caught your post. I was charging a flat rate of $200.00 for the complete system. Jack Damn, that Cerakote finish has held up beautifully on Kay's Shotgun. That gun has literary thousands of rounds through it, been around the world a couple of times and gets the crap beat out of it in competition, because we don't baby them and it still looks like new!!! You can see the beating the Docter Reflex Optic has taken in comparison and they were both new at the time. Guess it has been about three years now. Jack

  8. There was, and maybe still is, a huge market for self defense, tactical, "Real World" Training. A lot of people jumped on board and tried to make some bucks off of the trend. Many of them were completely incompetent, regardless of what their resume or prior military experience, or how many deployments they may have had. We have a similar, newly formed Company locally who advertise themselves as self defense instructions, etc. I know some of the LEO guys they use and these guys are lucky when they don't shoot each other.   10. Exactly! Many of us are self taught in what we do. Experience is what counts AND being able to instruct. I know many instructors who are world class shooters or highly experience operators, but they do not have the ability to actually TEACH! Jack
  11. How will it stand up to the rifle being dropped directly on the sight? How far up and on what surface? Fuck, I don't know, as well as anything else on the market if not better. Definitely better than a tube scope. I see them get dropped all the time, with the pistols and they survive, done it myself a few times. The C-Mores are professional units, been around for years and they have an outstanding reliability reputation. Even if you break it, C-more will fix it with a fast turn around time also. Jack
  12. Red Dot only on an AR Flat top: C-More Slide Ride/Railway in Standard Intensity Adjustment. Should be able to find one for around $200.00 You can put any MOA Dot you want in it. I would recommend 4 MOA for out to 200 yards, and 6 or 8 MOA for inside 100 yards. I have found this to be the best, bar none, for dot only AR's. Mainly for fast target engagement within 100 yards and accuracy and it is affordable. You will not have to worry about it going tits up on you. C-More has an outstanding reputation and warranty program. Jack

  14. I forgot! Yes we tried the cross bolt safety on the Saiga 12 also in comparison with the Stock Russian Selector/Safety Lever. I manufacture one, mainly for LEO and Military personnel where the powers to be require a standard type safety on the firearm. Here is a pic of it for those who are not familiar with it. Jack
  15. This is what I/we found during extensive testing on the practice range and during competitions. Taran Butler and I have been working together for quite a few years developing the Saiga 12 for Open Division competition. Taran's resume should speak for itself.   18. The best is always Fords and Chevys. I like the JP Enterprises, Bennie Coolie Muzzle Brake. Excellent recoil reduction, professional unit, and aesthetic. You will have to remove the FSB, machine/cut off the taper of the front of the FSB and square it to match the Brake. Turn down the barrel, move the FSB back and thread the barrel to 5/8X24 TPI to use this brake, but it is well worth it. I just did one for a customer on his Saiga 308. Cut the barrel back to 20" 11 degree Crown, and the JP Brake. Shot extremely well. Better than some of the high end .308 gas guns I work with/b
  19. I match the ID of the gas block to the finished OD of the barrel plus .0005 just tight enough that I can drill the new pin locations and the gas block will not move. Almost, but not quite tight enough that I can take it off by hand. Still needs a light press fit for seal. Whenever you weld up a barrel or receivers you need to use a backer or a plug. I have machined my own rods/plugs to go inside the barrel (slip fit) when I weld and plates that I vise grip onto the receivers when they are welded. I use bronze for my backers as it is a dissimilar materiel and has better longevity than

  21. You need to machine the barrel, outside diameter (OD) to match the Gas Block Inner Dimension (ID) on a lathe, and then machine in font of the new gas block location for the proper barrel OD. After, you TIG weld up the old gas ports. If you do not have access to a lathe or the knowledge about this, then you are definitely in for a learning experience, maybe not all good! It is NOT a taper cut. Look at your barrel now at the OD of the barrel where the gas block goes on in relation to the barrel and imagine moving the gas ports back 2-4 inches.     For the sake of anyone who is interested, I am going to explain exactly how the Bolt "Timing" works and why it is so important that the angles of the barrel hood and the top lug of the bolt body not be improperly modified, filed, ground, profiled, etc. I have put the picture of the bolt and the receiver in this post so you can see the relationship of the two angles I am referring to. The angle of the Barrel Hood and the Angle of the lug on the top of the bolt body. This is the same lug that you fit the bolt into the carrier/slot when you are reassembling the two components.
