  1. From the album: Saiga 12

I drilled out the trigger and extention pins with a 3/16" drillbit and taped them out with a punch. I cut the floorplate in front to keep the saftey stop
  2. From the album: Saiga 12

I used a new 5/32" cobalt drillbit to remove the rear rivet and front spotweld. then cut the rear stock screw extention.
  3. RooK thats actualy a stock I removed from my Saiga 12 that I converted LOP is 16" with the added recoil pad. I have a 37" sleve leingth (knuckels drag on the ground). I just converted the 7.62x39 and threw it on untill I can get an Ace folding stock.
  4. Wait...He did post a bump fire video a while back. Wasn't that Kermit bumping the Easter Bunny?
  5. Welcome I purchased 30 rnd. and 20 rnd. metal mags. and only had to file a little of the bottom of the catch tab on the back. You MUST add a bullet guide to the trunion under the barrel or the nose of the bullet will hit the edge of the barrel when using non saiga mags. Saiga makes their mags higher in front and the bullet rides on the front of the mag and is fed at the right angle. The conversion website shows how to put a bullet guide in.

  7. I have used the Blackjack green buffer and I made an adaptor plate for a pachymeyer 1" medium grind to fit recoil pad. I have long arms and the recoil pad added the leingth I needed to make the S-12 "feel right" for me. I Have also used the Blackjack buffer and it works fine also. I Had used both the buffer and the recoil pad together on a new Saiga with less than the recomended 200 rounds to break in a new stiff action and had 3 misfeeds with No. 8 trap loads, but I felt that could shoot it all day. I think that ether one alone will work for you. The Blackjack is less work to install and cos

  9. I've kept the the sporter stock on mine. I call it the Sprack .... short for sporter-attack
  10. I will be converting my Saiga 12 soon with a G2 fcg and a saw grip also. Thanks for your work in documenting the modifications. I did a conversion on my 7.62x39 with no problem. The Saiga 12 reciver looks like the 7.62, but there are a lot of little differances.

    Motivation

Hi and welcome 1. I added a recoil pad to the stock and a blackjack buffer to mine and it burped three times with No.8 trap loads. I removed the buffer and no problems. NOTE: New action I fired less than 50 rounds (shame on me!) after 200 rounds I will reinstall buffer. 2. far less than my Remingtion 870 3. Ditto Krom32117 4. Ditto Krom32117 5. You may need to see a gunsmith. Now if you want a flash hider, search this forum you won't be disapointed. 6. Purchased mine 11/04 and it had one. 7. ??? 8. 14. I have the AK grip on my 7.62X39 and I am going to put the saw grip on my S-12 the AK grip is a little small for my hand but I want to make the rifle compact with a folding stock. I like the feel of the saw grip on the shotgun because it is weighs more than the rifle and its easyer to "swing it around" with the saw grip.
  15. I think the hammer and the U.S. copies were designed without the Bolt Hold Open lever. I put a FSE hammer in my 7.62x39 Saiga and just filed and fit it on the BHO side untill the the hammer moved smoothly with the BHO in and axle pin fully seated. The "pin punch " tool that comes with the Saiga is worth its weght in gold when putting the trigger group together. You can use the small end as a locator pin to align the spring loaded hammer catch that sits in the trigger and then follow it through with the trigger axle pin. Pull the "pin punch" out the right side of the reciever and drop the BHO

    My Saiga 12

nice idea on the forestock it gives me another option when I start work on my Saiga. I have a bushnell red dot sight that I want to mount as low as possiable. I have done some reasearch on the net and found a low side rail mount with 30 mm. rings but the supplier has bad rep. also there are a couple of places that make nice looking cheak pads if you need to raise your sight line. again good work on your Saiga
  17. Mr. Interceptor can you tell me what metal the front sight post is made of
  18. this is for 5 round mags with the bolt closed. If I ever get 8 round mags I will try it with them.
  19. Look closely at the front of the mag near the top there is a molded "lip". the right side tapers of to nothing compared to the left side. When you insert the mag be shure to catch the left side of the lip into the mag hole then slightly "rock" or angle the mag towards the right side and give the mag a tap on the bottom rear (towards the mag catch) and it will snap into place. This takes a little practice, I can hold the saiga with my left hand around the reciver and use my thumb on the saftey side and my fingers on the scopemount side to help guide the mag while I rock and lock the mag with my
