What to do???? Please help.
bshoop13 replied to Jangles's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
If it is still in the orginal configuration, no pistol grip or high capacity magazine, then it should be compliant. -
I did not know that. Not one gun I bought came with a lock.

I have used a bulgarian ak-74 fsb on my .223. the dimensions on the .223barrel is slightly bigger then the inside diameter of the fsb so you will have to ream out the I.D. just a hair.

I have sausage fingers also. I trimmed mine down at first but then I turned around and just took it right out. -

That is the bolt hold open. you can take it off but you wont be able to lock the bolt back. Maybe try to cut a little bit off, just enough to clear your finger. -
No Problem friend. I've spent a little bit of time in N. Ga. Great place to be if you can find a living IMO. If/when my job dries up here in Florida I may be migrating that direction myself. My brother is in augusta at the moment. Its nice in the outskirts down that way

Thank you for all the great info. I hoping they still have the saiga 12 when I get my taxes back. I have heard of people putting a thumbhole stock on before so I might be ok there. I hate living in NY,I might wind up living by my brother in GA soon.

I was looking at a saiga 12 today and had a few questions. (I really dont know much about shotguns in general) 1) If I wanted to put a skeleton or a thumbhole stock on it would I have to play the compliance game? 2) If I put on a slr 95 thumbhole stock on itand move the FCG forward can I use a normal tapco FCG or do the saiga shotguns Use a different setup? 3) Deer slugs or buckshot? 4) How are they with bird shot? I live in NY so I cant do a pistol grip or use hi cap mags.

Bilo, I did a check on Brake Cleaner and found the following info on ingredients: "Composition/Information on Ingredients Component ...% Toluene 22-32 % Methanol 15-25 % Acetone 38-48 % " Toluene and Acetone are both powerful solvents that are used to degrease or REMOVE PAINT. It is great for removing stuff from a blued surface. It is NOT great for removing anything from a coated surface, and you won't find it in a bore cleaner. louielouie Thanx for the research . I would never use brake cleaner, I didnt think you could do that. I buy the cleaning wipes f

Sounds like the duracoat is the way 2 go. Do you have any pix of the pistol?
-
Yes it will and so will Brake cleaner. For those that are going to call BS, when was the last time you wiped it down with a white rag and looked at it ? Duracote does not like whatever is in both of those Gunkote is a more durable choice IMHOP I use a lot of both and would not worry about using either one. You just need to be careful. rockmup' , Why would you use brake cleaner on a newly painted surface? I use it myself to remove cosmolene and crap just before painting but brake cleaner has some very powerful solvents in it, and will mess up almost any painted surface.

Are bake on finishes like durabake or the bake ons from brownells better?

Just after I replied to this I got an email saying my order has shipped, that was fast. -
Bilo, Any surface can be damaged if you try, but I have found that DuraCoat is not damaged at all by most bore cleaners. I just make sure to wipe off anything I get on it. I do get Break-Free CLP (it has some cleaner in it) on it from time to time and even though I don't make a big effort to get it off, it does not hurt the DuraCoat surface. I have read a lot of reports and DuraCoat is right up at the top. It is pricey. If you have a friend who lives nearby or anyone to go in with you to buy the smallest amount. 4 ounces does 1-4 firearms so if you figure they mean 4 handgun

I have seen a few AK bullpup kits in the swapsheet not to long ago. I thought they were legal in NY, I almost bought one.
